I phoned the host and she let me know where the key was - I went in and everything was there that was needed including a fridge and a microwave.
It was a Sunday night and the Old Ship pub (next door) had stopped doing food at 6.50pm. A warning (arguably from them) would have helped, but a walk to the Jolly Sailor on the other side of the river was not too bad an alternative.
A desk or somewhere to sit and work would have been helpful but it is a quaint little house with little extra space for more furniture.

Heating was on ready for our arrival. We knew we would be happy in this quirky little place . Simple but perfect for our needs . Super comfortable bed . Towels provided . Fridge , microwave, kettle , hairdryer.
The pool in the garden looks great , obviously not in use at this time of year , but it will be a great place to relax and enjoy in the summer time .
The Old Ship Inn pub is literally 10 seconds across the car park from the front door . We ate here twice , lovely food , lovely staff and they welcome dogs . It felt an added bonus having somewhere so good to go to with the dogs and not have to drive at all .
Perfect dog walk along the estuary. Yes the footpath was a little soggy , but that's January. All in all , we had a lovely weekend away with our 2 little dogs , visiting our son . We have stayed in a few places now in Southampton, and this is definitely our favourite. We will return
