About this villa rental
Located just outside the beautiful and bustling city of Lucca, in the centre of the village of Marlia with many shops and facilities all around, VILLA RICORDI enjoys a small intimate property with a greenhouse with huge glass windows overlooking the pool.
Just three miles from home, you’ll have no trouble immersing yourself in the history, architecture, and culture of one of Italy’s most iconic cities: Lucca
VILLA RICORDI is a completely restored Neoclassic period Villa with a backyard garden along Via del Monumento in Marlia, very close to supermarkets and in a walking distance from shops and restaurants. Surrounded incredibly breathtaking countryside reachable in a few minutes on foot, the Villa shows off its traditional construction featuring exposed wood beams, early 1900s flooring, ancient stonework, and elegant archways that link its many living areas. The villa features and indoor and an outdoor fully equipped kitchens. An ample dining room with seats for 12 and several living rooms are a feature. With such a beautiful setting, you’ll love hosting family and friends at unforgettable dinner parties inside the villa or in the wonderful greenhouse by the pool. The fully equipped kitchen, barbecue, and wood fired pizza oven make its way to prepare incredible meals. You’ll also enjoy the villa’s pool, sun beds, and a fireplace.
After relaxing in the garden head for lunch in a favorite spot on the hills around Marlia, Segromigno, Ponte a Moriano. Located just at the foot of the hills, this vibrant town features some of the cities best restaurants. For dinner, the Michelin-starred Butterfly features fine Italian cuisine and an amazing garden. On another evening try Antica Locanda di Sesto, a more traditional and casual Italian Trattoria packed with locals.
Once the inspiration for countless Renaissance artists and now dotted with charming villages and castles, the Lucca region is well worth exploring. Sip the famed local wine in Montecarlo or leave your car at the close-by train station and take the train into central Florence. You can even drive to Pisa in 25 minutes or to the Beach in 25/30 minutes, or even to Cinque Terre in less than 1 hour. There are plenty of dining choices close to VILLA RICORDI, from rustic trattorias to romantic restaurants, and if you need a special treat, the Garfagnana mountains and wonders of BARGA and BAGNI DI LUCCA are only a 20 minute drive away.

We loved the garden room, the views from the back, the historic nature of the house, the spacious bedroom suites and generous bathrooms, secluded pool area, comfortable beds, convenience of local shops and restaurants, quiet area, proximity to mountains, scenery, Villa Reale, Lucca. The house has numerous televisions and sitting rooms which we didnt need to use as we were a party of 6, but would be useful for different groups. We appreciated the supply of staples, coffee, water, paper towels etc. We received a very warm welcome from our host and the Lucca villas representative and we were most grateful when we got a slightly later check out at short notice. It was all in all a truly lovely villa.
Nothing to do with the accommodation but the regulations regarding recyling were a problem. No doubt for locals, it s second nature but for visitors it was an ongoing hassle. I' m not exaggerating. We are very responsible people and we seemed to spend every evening discussing the bins, one or more of which went out every night. Sometimes we had to put out a bag in a bin, a bin without a bag or a bag without a bin. Multiple coloured bins and different types of bags and different instruction sheets had us confused. And what on earth is lady plastic?
So more detailed instructions or photos of products would be a great assistance to overseas visitors.

The villa was absolutely lovely! Incredible decor ( I took pictures of all the beautiful floor patterns) and very spacious for our group of 6.
What would have made it better was better cookware and knives-we had a chef in our party and he was disappointed. I would also say that groups looking for privacy might consider that the villa is not that private, especially with the owners across the street.

This was hands down one of, if not my best, Airbnb experience. Sidrak and the property manager, Mariapia, went above and beyond to make our Christmas stay incredible and memorable! First, the space is amazing - spacious and beautiful. The bedrooms are suites, each with a private sitting room. The grounds are beautiful and the outside dining room offers a unique experience, with a firepit to keep warm. What made our experience over the top was Sidrak and Maria's hospitality and customer service. They coordinated a welcome dinner with a local Chef and assisted in finding the best wine tasting location open near the holidays. We spent Christmas at the home, so they even left us a Christmas tree to decorate and dropped off additional firewood for the pizza oven and fireplaces on Christmas eve. We will be back!
