Lovely building. The room was very large, which was good. It was sold as a King sized room. The room was a fantastic size. The restaurant was set out lovely. Very airy indeed. Made for a lovely experience.
The bed was very small and looked like it was thrown together with different pieces of wood. There was lots of noise from other guests, and also, the windows were not double glazed. There was Storm Dave to contend with so the noise from the wind was absolutely horrendous, both in the bathroom and bedroom. The bed was incredibly high, and quite small for 2 people, which for saying it was a king sized room, the bed didn’t reflect this unfortunately. Pictures of the male standing next to the bed, for reference. Also, and rather unfortunately, I wasn’t too hungry, so I ordered chips and coleslaw. I was gutted when they arrived, the portion size was great, but that’s where it stopped. There was no taste to any of it. That being said, my husbands steak was perfect, his whole meal was great. The mayo was homemade, which would have been great if it had any taste. The texture was amazing. Staff were great too.

The oldness to it, the surroundings, the outdoor area, the breakfast, the dinner in the restaurant. The rooms were big, the showers were lovely. British ironworks was just down the road, booked this hotel for that reason. Great location for it.
The bed was way too soft (personal preference for a solid mattress) and it said a big bed, I was expecting king sized. Although we slept alright. Giving our breakfast order felt rushed, she nearly didnt ask what eggs we wanted, and a bit disappointed not to get toast with it. But the food was lovely, so can't complain too much.

Staff was friendly and the room was great
There was no lift or chair lift to the room on the upper floors for disabled people like myself, that has difficulty with stairs. No wheelchair access at the main entrance. My room was directly above the main entrance and every time someone went in or out of the building, the door would slam shut. Also I was not informed that there would be a party in the hotel, so the combination of the two was to much noise and it didn't get quiet until 2am following morning. I needed my sleep that night as I had a four hour drive back to where I live. I have stayed in hotels around the world but this has to be the worst.
