I recently stayed at Hotel Baita Cretaz with my wife during our ski trip in Italy, and I would like to share our experience. The hotel’s location is truly outstanding. It offers a perfect ski-in/ski-out experience and is located approximately 150 meters from the chairlift. Access from the base of the mountain is unique—guests need to call the hotel, and a snowmobile will pick them up and bring them up to the property, which adds a special alpine touch to the stay. The hotel is currently under new management, and the team is clearly making a strong effort to provide a pleasant experience. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and willing to accommodate requests. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-suited for a ski vacation. Breakfast is included, and you can enjoy unlimited coffee, cappuccino, or Americano. However, there are some areas that need improvement. I would recommend this hotel primarily to those for whom ski-in/ski-out access is a top priority, as it is for us. I do hope the management continues to improve operations, and I would consider returning next season to see how things have developed.
It appears the new management is trying to control costs, which unfortunately affects guest comfort. Heating in the rooms is scheduled to start around 5:00 PM, but during our stay, the room remained cold even later, and we had to request that the heat be turned on. The same issue occurred in the morning, making both the room and bathroom uncomfortably cold. While staff responded promptly once asked, this is something guests should not need to request. Breakfast selection is quite limited. Although breakfast is included, the variety of food is minimal. On one occasion, we arrived at 8:20 AM (with breakfast starting at 7:40 AM), and croissants were already unavailable. When I asked, I was told they were finished, even though breakfast service was still ongoing. After speaking with the chef, we learned that additional items could be prepared within 15–20 minutes, and we were willing to wait. However, this option was not initially offered, and otherwise there was very little left to eat. In summary, the hotel’s biggest strengths are its exceptional location and the friendliness of the staff. However, several aspects of the service and comfort require improvement. For the premium price paid, certain expectations—such as consistent heating and a properly stocked breakfast—should be met without needing to ask.

+ Friendly and helpful staff. + Nice breakfast, especially we liked croissants as they vere super fresh and buttery. + Good location of the hotel (ski-in, ski-out). + Ski-doo service (for getting down to the city and up to the hotel) was super helpful and fun! + Nice restaurant to have both lunch and dinner when you don't want to go to the town.
- Cold! Room 2, where we lived, is located near the backdoor of the hotel, where hotel guests leave for the skiing day and return. So the door is frequently open, which lets the cold in. Also there were cost-saving measures at the hotel, when the heating was off (both radiator and towel dryer) during the night (~ from midnight till 7:00 in the morning) and during the day (from late morning till 15:00). This all resulted in extremely low temperature in the room, which made our stay very uncomfortable. - Wi-Fi was very bad, both signal-wise and speed-wise. - There was only one trash bin in the room (which was super-small) and one a bit bigger in the bathroom. It was challenging to throw away somethin bigger (e.g. water bottles).
