Arriving at this hotel is impressive, and that’s before you enter, the welcome from the receptionist, Jasmine, was outstanding, friendly, informative and efficient. Could not fault the place, and only 5 mins away from the museum, definitely worth another look.

We stayed at the hotel for an event and enjoyed our stay but were disappointed with a few things. The hotel is nice and holds special memories for us. A few things to mention is that the card machine at reception didn’t work on arrival with Apple Pay which could have been embarrassing, fortunately we managed to pay a little later on when it worked again so that worked out fine. It is also very cold in the hotel in the winter months but the heating that was on around the hotel didn’t really heat the hotel sufficiently, we had to sit in the reception area following the event that we were attending in front of the log fire to warm up as the event suite we attended was not very warm. The fire was fading and when we asked the night member of staff in reception if we could put more wood on the fire he abruptly said that’s all the logs there were which wasn’t what we asked and a bit unexpected. There was fortunately one log left next to the fire so we managed to get the fire going again for a while longer. Also we found that the breakfast staff were not particularly friendly, it took a fair while to be served and the service received wasn’t great overall. Staff didnt give the impression that they wanted to be there. It was also cold in the stables bar on the Saturday afternoon as the fire was only running in the main bar area and not in the large side room so we sat and had a few drinks with our jackets on. Don’t get us wrong we like the hotel it was just these few issues which were disappointing and could easily be resolved. We will visit again but hopefully these issues will be a one off.
