About this house rental

Behind the street-side flat driveway and garage (great in winter) you'll enter the bright house from the western front deck (there is another deck off the back of the house which gets great morning light). You’ll feel connected to your friends and family in the warm and social atmosphere of the house’s layout. We welcome up to 6 adult guests, or with children (13 years and under) up to 8 guests.

The living room, dining room and kitchen are open to each other. Two entrance-level bedrooms face south and accommodate up to 6 people. There is a Primary Bedroom (west) with a queen bed, and a Family Bedroom (east) with a double bed and twin bunk.

You can expand upstairs into the Loft which has low walls and covers over half the floor plan, allowing for good air flow and a feeling of spaciousness. Gaze out the windows, or if you need to get work done, set up the folding desk. If quiet privacy is what you’re after, simply hide away. A twin bunk, double futon and queen futon can accommodate up to 5, for flexible sleeping arrangements.

Stay warm in cold months with central gas heat, a pellet stove, and space heaters. The house stays relatively cool naturally all summer long; there are fans if desired.

Whether you’re cooking, relaxing on the couch, watching a movie, reading (many VHSs, DVDs and books are available to peruse during your stay), cooking and eating (full oven range, crock pot, bread maker, waffle maker, microwave and toaster plus coffee maker and blender), or stretching after a long day out on the mountain, you’ll have the space to do it.

Friendly and Comfortable Mountain Get-Away is easy to get to on Northwoods BLVD, the main Tahoe Donner road, which gets plowed well, and since it is at the far end of the road’s loop, there is less traffic. Also, the driveway gets plowed on heavy snow days. A true mountain life experience, after a storm, you may have to shovel the snow berm and walkway during your stay (or hire a local to do it for you).

Well-stocked but not excessive, you’ll find what you need to be comfortable, relax, and enjoy your vacation no matter what the season.

We look forward to hosting you.

We had a great stay at this cute cabin. It felt right out of a another time, but in a good way. Our young kids were truly intrigued and fascinated by the VHS collection and analog television (haha!) and loved watching some of the kids movies and participating in putting the tape in, rewinding, etc. There were also lots of games for the kids to get into. The kitchen was well stocked. The proximity to Tahoe Donner downhill was a super pleasant surprise. Would stay here again.

Took my family up to play in the snow. The house is in a good location and has everything you would need. My kids loved the house and are already asking me to take them back there.

For a rental, this is the best lit home we stayed in. And it has everything that we need for a comfortable stay. When we had a problem, Ama the host was very responsive, and she also checked on us. Having a garage was a must for us, especially with the snow storm. I was concerned a little about getting the sheets and towels laundered before we leave for 7 people, but it was totally doable, because the washer and dryers were so large. We did have to shovel a little to get to the front entrance due to snow, but they had ice for us to keep it not being slick throughout our stay in January.
