The great view and the shade provided by the kiwi plant foliage made the terrace a very nice place to sit (pool pump switched off!). The house is located relatively close to beautiful cities (Lucca, Pisa, Firenze) while at the same time close to the beautiful mountains.

The bed linen was provided only for two rooms. This made it impossible for our teenage kids to choose to sleep separately although we rented the entire house. Furthermore, having spare linen would have been preferable. In general, the impression was that the house is in need of a refurbishment on several aspects. The photos on booking.com do not reflect the current state. The pump of the swimming pool made a ghastly noise. It was operated via an interval timer so we got the impression that this has been the case for some time already. The sound was so bad that we actually also felt a bit bothered for the neigbouring holiday houses. You could not sit on the terrace an hear one and another without raising your voice when the pump was working. After not getting a response from the care takers on how to deal with this, we decided to switch the pump off during days we stayed at the house and changed the timer settings such that it would run only once during the night. The frying pans in the kitchen needed replacement; The non-stick coating was coming loose (very unhealthy). The showers were small and equiped with shower curtains. This basically made it impossible to move when taking a shower without sticking to the curtains. Also, the shower heads were very leaky and needed replacement. Lastly, the steep path towards the house was partly washed away, and very slippery when wet. Especially if you are less mobile/agile, this can be a real problem.
