Drumahaman Cottage

We had stayed here before, and loved this property & Ballycastle. We'd been back to Ballycastle since, but this property was always booked up for our dates, so when I was checking this property out of curiosity, and found that it was available, I booked it immediately (with free cancellation) We then set about planning our holiday around this. We decided that we wanted a longer stay in Ballycastle - Luckily these days were still available. We arrived a bit earlier than expected, and Eoin was at the property, doing a few jobs. Keys are now accessed from a key locker (At our first visit they were left under the mat)!! We soon settled into the property - as before, there was everything that we needed for our stay. We noticed that the bathroom had been modernised, and there was a barbecue. The weather wasn't so good during our stay, so we didn't spend much time in the garden. We enjoyed watching the sheep out of the kitchen window, and the many birds from the lounge window (including a few birds of prey, and a few that we couldn't identify) We ate out the first night at the Marconi restaurant, but we ate in most nights McKays butchers has a good selection of meat dishes and side dishes. Ursa Minor Bakery has a cafe, and lovely bread and cakes. The Co-Op is handy for essentials. There are other butchers, bakeries etc and a Spar supermarket. We enjoyed ice creams from Mauds. We were looking forward to catching the ferry to Rathlin Island again, though the seas were very rough, and some trips were cancelled. We did make a (rough ) crossing over to the island- the return journey was much better! We'd previously visited the Giants Causeway, Carrick A Rede rope bridge and Bushmills Distillery. We did pay another visit to Ballintoy Harbour, which was very dramatic with the crashing waves. The cafe sells delicious cakes etc. Eoin and Jenny checked that we were OK during our stay.

Not a complaint - We found that the walk into Ballycastle appeared much further than when we visited in 2018!!! We probably used the car more than previously to get shopping.

The location and views

A bit worn. Hair in the bed and wall behind cooker splattered with food. Also on booking it says toiletries will be provided but there wasn’t any so we had to go out and buy some.

Good Communication and easy access to property. Clean and comfortable in good location.

Great location short walking distance to shops etc.

Beds were not great to be fair.
