About this house rental
Proud to be awarded one of Vrbo’s 2026 Vacation Rentals of the Year. Happy Trails has been transformed from a horse property in the Montana mountains into a luxurious western vacation home. Located in Big Sky, Montana. This once exclusive vacation home is the perfect getaway for your family reunion or large group vacation. It's like having your own private ranch! Happy Trails boast 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. This compound features a large main house, a new guest house, and a huge party barn. Mountain views span 360 degrees around the 22 acre property.
So close to everything in Big Sky, a perfect location, situated a couple of minutes from town and a few miles to Big Sky Resort, so you get the best of both worlds. The famous North Fork Trail head is just steps out our back door for winter XC Nordic skiing. Marked snowshoe trails meander adjacent to the property, just strap on your shoes and go. We also have prestigious neighbors like Lone Mountain Ranch who borders our property and Yellowstone NP is just an hour away!
As you enter the main house, a huge 20ft fireplace welcomes you and wall to wall windows in the main living area streams sunlight making it happy and open. Three bedrooms all have their own spacious seating areas and private fireplaces. Great for curling up for reading or relaxing after a day of activities. The bunkroom even has its own big private bathroom, so send the kids and teens down to hangout for games and xbox and they will be all set! The guest house is a home in itself. Located across the gravel driveway from the main house. It has a living room, full kitchen, dining room AND 3 bedrooms! All outfitted in chic mountain cabin décor.
OK! Now the party barn...A 3000sqft heated state of the art barn turned into the ultimate gathering space. Pool table, ping pong table, dart board, and lounge/TV area will keep you entertained for hours. Imagine pouring drinks behind the 18 foot saloon bar with Kegerator, singing karaoke with your group on the 24 foot stage area, and enjoying beautiful artwork decorating the walls. The 7th bedroom is also attached here. It has its own guest half bath, and shower. Outside, the campfire sanctuary has lots of lounge seating for roasting those perfect s'mores and telling stories.
Some attractions of house: LOCATION, screened in summer porch, covered deck and porch spaces. Real wood burning fireplace gives you that true crackling Montana feel. Deluxe Jacuzzi to enjoy après ski or after a long summer hike. Huge back yard, plus 20 acres to play and explore. This is truly a vacation compound, you have the luxury of enjoying your own land without neighbors' windows peering at you, yet being so close to all the Big Sky activities. Escaping to the mountains is about having space. The enjoyment is to spread out, take nature walks, pick wildflowers, spot abundant wildlife, follow trails from the back door, all on this special property. Happy Trails feels like you are on your own private ranch.

**No school spring breakers. Minimum renter age=25. Renter also must be a guest in the house. Max adults 12. Children can substitute for adults when the max is not reached.
**It has always been the best protection for cancellation to take out traveler's insurance, especially with covid concerns in addition to everything else.
**Payment is typically in 3 installments (down payment to book, 2nd payment due 90 days prior to arrival and 3rd payment due 60 days prior to arrival).

Happy Trails is an incredible place to stay! We stayed with multiple families and everyone was super comfortable. The layouts of the houses are so conducive to prepping/returning from ski days. About 10 minutes drive to Big Sky Resort, super convenient. The kitchens had everything you could need - super well stocked with loads of glasses, dishes, bowls, and pots/pans.We loved making a winter fire and enjoying the evening sky. We especially enjoyed the party barn - hanging there every evening and playing lots of ping pong and billiards. It It was such a great layout for some of our crew to hang out late while others comfortably retired to bed earlier. Kevin and Kimbie were super responsive ahead of time and during our stay. We would recommend this place over and over again! Hope to come back again another time.

Oh my goodness!!!! This house was truly a blessing to our family as we celebrated the wedding of our daughter in Bozeman. We were able to have a really fun get together in the barn before the wedding and enjoyed having meal with extended family after the wedding.One of my favorite memories was watching my grandchildren sled down the hill and play in the snow for entire days!!! The host had set up a very fun launching slide.The fireplace was amazing. And many in our family enjoyed the fire pit too!After the wedding many of us skied in Big Sky (so fun for everyone) and some of us went to Yellowstone. On the last night we were able to see the northern lights with our phones. As we were leaving and driving to Bozeman, we enjoyed the snow falling down all around us.This house was beautiful and the nature all around it was majestic.

We had the most incredible Christmas stay at a luxurious home in Big Sky, and it was truly unforgettable. We spent the holidays with two families on this expansive 20-acre property, surrounded by breathtaking snowy landscapes. The home was picturesque, comfortable, and perfect for the season. We loved having two large, fully equipped kitchens and a party barn with pool, table tennis, and a bar. The main house also featured a cozy fireplace, making it feel warm and welcoming, even from thousands of miles away. Plus, it was incredibly convenient, being just a 10-minute drive from the Big Sky ski village and slopes, so we could easily go skiing on the days we were there. It was the perfect escape from Australia, and we couldn’t have asked for a better holiday experience. Highly recommended!
