Jowders Cottage

The cottage was more spacious than it looked from the outside. Facilities were good. It wasn't too far to walk from the centre of the town. There was a view of the sea and St Michael's Mount from the bedroom windows. We liked the outdoor courtyard and that there was a clothes line for drying.

Nothing they can do about this, but the taller members of our family kept bumping their heads on the low beams!

The location was perfect for our needs. Marazion is a beautiful old town. I loved the quaint old granite cottage and its old world charm. The heaters kept the cottage nice and warm. There is everything you need to hand in the kitchen. Peter was very pleasant, he left some shopping provisions in for us, that we had asked for. Took us to the main supermarket to purchase our supplies as we had no car, and was very accommodating to our needs. Travel to other locations is easy via bus and trains, with excellent service timetable from the buses. Everyone was very friendly, wether local or tourist.

We found the mattresses a bit uncomfortable, and as mentioned in other reviews, the shower pressure is not what we are used to, but served a purpose. Once you master the shower controller, the water is wonderfully hot, but the shower head is very small and there is no real decent water pressure to it, but that of course may be due to the age or possible restrictions of the building. However having said this, these issues would not stop me returning to the cottage another time.

The instructions to find the property, including specific route and the tightness of the drive leading to the parking space was helpful and accurate. Access to the property was straightforward and a lovely welcome pack was left by the hosts. The property was exactly as described and as a bonus it was truly 'dog-friendly'. Thank you. The lounge - lovely and we enjoyed the games. When it was a cooler evening we used the electric fan heater provided. Plenty of choice via the TV. The sofas were clean and comfy. The Kitchen was lovely with every utensil and resource available. The stairs were steep and narrow but gave us some good exercise! The bathroom with bath / shower / sink and toilet plus lovely heated towel rail. We didn't use the second bedroom but the main bedroom was really good. Wardrobe, chest of drawers, beside cabinets, lovely bedding and so forth. Outside a small courtyard, 'summer house' and store with additional fridge and ice box. All provided and all clean, tidy and lovely. What a lovely cottage. The cottage is a lovely base for exploring Marazion, St Michael's Mount, Penzance, Lands End, St Ives and everything else between. Supermarkets were plentiful. The pubs and restaurants in Marazion were great. Great hosts and great accommodation. (Note: We managed to drive our Ford Edge down the narrow lane to the parking bay.... just! I wouldn't want to attempt it in anything wider as we were millimetres off each folded in door mirror.)

The double bed - on side - seemed to have a lump, lean but after a day of fresh air sleep was never a problem. The kitchen storage heater didn't work but that didn't cause any inconvenience and the cottage was never chilly. Having to leave! ;)

Perfect for us. Fully stocked, lovely scones as a welcome, clean and comfortable. Approachable hosts.
