Marsh Mere Lodge

Everything about Marsh Mere Lodge, including its owner, Claire, is absolutely amazing. A beautifully furnished and decorated house on a curved road overlooking the bay , with a good pub just a short walk away. Claire is keenly interested in her guests’ comfort, and she’s quick with a story or a joke. And the breakfast was fantastic. We adore this place.!

There’s nothing not to like about Marsh Mere Lodge, but mind your head if you’re taller than 6 feet — the ceilings are low!

Amazing stay. Stunning home, beautifully decorated. Warm and inviting. Host was so friendly and hospitable. Beds so comfortable. Local pub so close and so fun. Full Irish breakfast was fabulous.

Our biggest hiccup with the property was the amount of “stuff” and decor everywhere. Very busy and just not our preference. It had a lovely nostalgic feel, like going to grandma’s house back in the (1970s? 1980s? 1940s? 1910?). But in making the theme it meant there was stuff everywhere. In our room, every horizontal surface had decor on it and that made it hard to work on our computers, lay out our suitcases, or sit down on something other than the bed. I did not shower there because the shower was a small stall. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we’d had time to enjoy the area and been there on a day/time the tide was in. As it was, we drove a long way out of our way to stay “seaside” for a night and ended up not spending any time actually seeing the sea.
