This place is perfect for children. There's an excellent swimming pool with water toys, like floats and balls. You can rent mini landrovers to drive around a track. There are tennis courts and football goals, a giant chess set, adventure playground. The hotel itself is magical for kids to explore with the long corridors and large public areas. There's even a billiards room. The restaurant is excellent and feels classy, despite the hotel's family appeal. The quality of food top notch. There is a kids menu with lots of choice and the adult menu has lots of delicious items

Warm and welcoming. Staff are genuinely nice and most helpful. Wonderful history of the hotel available and it has so many activities including alpaca walking, archery, shooting, tennis golf billiards and the list goes on. Comfortable and thoughtful residence to make your stay enjoyable. Self service breakfast is offered in a gorgeous hall with chandeliers. The breakfast is included in the price which is nice but could perhaps offer a microwave for patron use and perhaps less choice and more quality. The swimming sauna steam and jacuzzi was very clean efficiently run and most enjoyable. Overall an excellent choice in a beautiful area easily reached by bus or car with a very short walk but uphill to hotel.

We used to visit regularly many years ago. It was lovely to return; the building is magnificent and it has benefitted from tlc in the last few years whilst retaining a lot of its charm. We felt at home and will be back!

We had a 3 person family room which was a bit tired (tiny tv with all cables on show, walls scuffed, dated furniture) and felt more dorm than 4 stars. Food was ok but overpriced for what it was. Enjoyed the activities (pub quiz, pool, air rifles). Good proximity to Peebles, could easily be walked. Would be lovely to sit outside in summer and enjoy the view with a drink. As with many of the reviews, junior staff were friendly and helpful. Reception bit stand-offish and not always manned.
