A fantastic location in the midst of farmland. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic value, with a high level of service. It was lovely to stroll around the grounds and the nearby village. We saw hares, hedgehogs and a variety of birds during our walks.
Signage to the reception could be clearer.

Breakfast was excellent & hot. Smoothie juice nice touch. Excellent & inventive vegetarian options at breakfast.
Magazines, coffee & delicious homemade biscuits in room.
Price of evening menu & very limited vegetarian option which drove us to a local restaurant instead of staying at the hotel.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The three lounge rooms were all very relaxing especially with the lovely background music, and the real log fire. Breakfast was also good.
Our room didn't have net curtains, so you could see into the room from the walkway outside and the dining room opposite, unless we had the full curtains closed. We very much look forward to when the maintenance works on the castle are completed, which will preserve and show off this fantastic historic building. I think it is also important to restrict the nesting birds as they can damage the walls over time.

Too many afternoon teas.
Too few staff. Staff working long hours and dress code was scruffy.. Restaurant service was poor.
