Built in 1872, this Victorian Farmhouse has all the upgrades and comfort of the 20th century! "Lorraine's Secret" is perched on a hill overlooking the Gold Rush town of Jackson. Park inside the two car garage or use one of the two off-street parking spaces. Free EV Charger in the garage. Walk through the arbor covered by mature grape vines to the front door! Rich in history the house exhibits gorgeous hand scraped, wood floors throughout. Antique furniture, original works of art and period lighting fixtures fill every room. Upstairs features two bedrooms and a bathroom with clawfoot tub. The kitchen houses a beautiful gas O'Keefe & Merritt Stove, Farmhouse Kitchen Sink and modern amenities like dishwasher, full sized refrigerator and dishwasher, microwave and drip coffee pot. Enjoy a gourmet dinner in the formal dining room or a casual fare in the breakfast nook off the kitchen. The living room features a large, flat-screen TV with Cable, high speed internet and WiFi and guest book with local recommendations and places to go. The house is fully fenced with a wrap around porch on 3 sides, lovely lawn area and a massive magnolia tree in the front. take in the view of the charming village of Jackson from the front porch or from the balcony on the second floor.

The Sierra Foothill Region is rich in agriculture, vineyards and winemaking as well. There are literally hundreds of places to indulge your gastronomic desires in Amador's own Shenandoah Valley, El Dorado's Fairplay and Pleasant Valley areas and Calaveras Counties wine regions.
The outdoor enthusiast will enjoy underground cave tours nearby, beautiful scenery and great places to hike and explore. Learn about the rich history of gold at Kennedy Goldmine and Argonaut Mine, both in Jackson. Kirkwood Ski Resort is also in Amador County, about 55 miles away. A perfect "make a memory" getaway place. The farmhouse was cozy, well-stocked, and an easy walk to old town Jackson, where specialty shopping and history lessons abound! We appreciated the owner's detailed instructions for accessing the place because it is, indeed, an old neighborhood with tight parking. We also appreciated having a garage to park in. If a person has balance or mobility issues, the various steps, stairs, uneven brick pavers, etc., this is not the best place. That said, the beds were very comfy, the water pressure for baths and showers was awesome, and the little notes explaining the home's historical pieces and stories of the farmhouse's past were a delight. The exterior grounds are well maintained and lovely as well!

Friends and I stayed for two nights and it was perfect. Sat out in the garden in the afternoons, easy walk to the historic district, and all the kitchen gadgets we needed. The weather was perfect so we didn't touch the ac or heater. Rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer!
