You’d swear Captain John’s is an oceanfront home by its dramatic views, which range over dark windswept pines to the sea. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood and angled to look down a wooded ravine and trail to the ocean, this five-bedroom home gives you a sense of serenity and an easy access trail to miles of Roads End beach. But it’s also an easy walk to Chinook Winds Casino, groceries, shopping and restaurants.
With its spacious (most with ocean views) bedrooms on the lower levels, Captain John’s saves the third floor for a spacious, sky-lit marvel of a great room with a stone hearth and wood stove next to a large flat-screen TV surrounded by several leather recliners and reclining sofas. A giant double dining table assures that no one gets left out of the celebration. A cheery, fully equipped kitchen is ready to serve up meals and has its own breakfast bar for early risers. There’s even a second sitting area for quiet conversations and reading. All of it looks out to stunning ocean and sky views to the south, made even better by stepping out to the large third-story deck. Want to share your time at the beach with family and friends? We had 14 family members stay for 4 nights. The location and house were great. The house was clean and there was plenty of room for all of us. The only complaint was all of the stairs, but we knew this going in as the house is three stories. The view from the living areas/deck is fabulous and beach access is a short walk. The listing states there are three full bathrooms, but there are actually four. That was a nice surprise. Would definitely stay here again.

Besides the dinner table being totally different, it was a great location. Cell service in Lincoln City is ify at best. Not sure what changes have been made since my last stay.

Our group ranging from 4 to 75 enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy ourselves!

The location and view were excellent. The house definitely needed some TLC. Stove had a burner that didn't work and the oven was not heating completely. Rugs were in need of cleaning. Stains were easily visible on carpeted areas, there was dust and cobwebs and fingerprints on electrical switch outlets and around the switches on the walls. We found items left under beds such as opened container of diaper wipes. There was only one wash cloth and 6 towels, definitely not enough for 16 people. I left a message with Meredith about the lack of towels, washcloths, toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags and items were never delivered to the house. A call was returned once with no follow through to solve the issues. Only communication from Meredith Lodging was when I reached out to them about check in details and directions. Never was contacted by the owner. This home could be a wonderful place, but needs some upkeep. Missing curtains, broken window blinds, no grass in the yard (wood mulch for the yard, instead of grass). The kitchen and dining areas had some sort of patching done on the ceiling, but it had left areas still needing repair. We did quite a bit of self cleaning when we got there and prior to check out. Would love to stay here again if repairs and cleaning were completed.
