• Great location - walking into Ambleside was easy, giving access to bus and boat. • Ambleside has lots to do and all the shops we needed. • Loads of varied walks on the doorstep meaning we barely used our car. • Very peaceful location with some pleasant views from cottage. • Great price for a family cottage. • Fully-functioning kitchen meaning we could cater for ourselves. • Two good showers and two good-sized bedrooms. • Good heating system which reacted quickly - the building then held the heat very well. • Fantastic pub nearby and others a little further on. • Loved sitting on the slate doorstep in the sun or on the pretty window seats looking out.

• Carpets are grubby due to muddy boots walking straight onto it. There was nowhere to take them off first. It also hadn’t been hoovered for our arrival as there was biscuit on the lounge floor and ‘clothing’ behind our bed. • We arrived back soaking wet one day but with limited space for four sets of dripping coats, waterproof trousers, walking boots, gloves and socks - perhaps some hooks outside under the porch and an airer rack inside would be useful, particularly over the bath. • Downstairs is very tight - more seating could be made with the window seat, lights and tv could be wall-mounted and a slimmer sofa put in. • As pointed out in every other review, the lounge lampshades are a pain in the neck and could be easily rectified. • Awareness for future visitors: - the single parking space is rather tricky with a large car and the hill up from town is extremely steep. - the stairs have suitably strong handrails but are steep and narrow as they turn - one closer to the wall might help.

Very clean, location apart from the joke up the hill, peace and quiet , good value for money.

Parking was an issue very tight and overgrown with nettle and brambles, I would suggest handrails to get out of shower/bath as no mat in the bath and risk of slipping, we were holding screen handle for safety incorrect password for internet supplied on e mail, why just say it’s on rear of router. Living room lampshade needs replacing as it’s held up by the lightbulb and kept hitting my head until I removed it.

Good location for walking holiday. Property had everything I needed. Cooker, fridge freezer good. Shower excellent (looks like a new boiler has been installed). Seating good. Bathroom good.

Forget how many times I bumped into the two ceiling lights downstairs. :) Need to shorten the leads and raise them.

Nice 3 storey stone house. Comfortable, well equipped for up to 4. Good location, short walk to town.

Be aware it's quite a steep uphill walk back from town!
