The location was okay – it’s about €23 by taxi from the airport, but the train from Saint-Louis to Basel is only €3.20 and works very well. The town itself is very small, but we found everything we needed, including a Carrefour where we bought wine and food.
The apartment was well equipped: the kitchen had everything we needed (plates, bottle opener, etc.), and there was even an umbrella provided. We really appreciated the small touches like the 2 bottles of mineral water and the 2 mini Toblerones waiting for us on arrival.
The ventilation system was very noisy – there were two units, one in the bathroom and another in the kitchen. Even with the doors closed, the sound carried into the bedroom, and there were no buttons to switch them off. If you’re a light sleeper, it’s hard to have a completely quiet night here.
Also, the apartment is basically an attic room, so the ceilings are low. I’m 1.80m and my husband is 1.84m, and we both felt uncomfortable moving around. The shower cabin was very small and narrow for us.
Another downside was the pillows – they were rectangular, not standard shape, and not comfortable at all. Overall, this is more of a place just to sleep rather than somewhere you’d want to spend a lot of time during the day.
