About this farm stay rental

Il Berneto is an all purpose holiday villa with a swimming pool, on the border of Tuscany and Umbria: the ideal choice for your perfect holiday in the Italian countryside.

The villa sits about 500 meters above sea level in 300 acres of flowered fields, olive groves with woodlands that have stunning views of the Umbrian hills. It is built entirely of local stones and was formerly a farmhouse that was erected on the ruins of the ancient 'Castel Brandetto”, built in 1000 AD: the original walls of the castle can still be seen in the back of the house. Last renovation in 2008.

The property includes an expansive garden, the Aia, with a lovely grass field and beautiful trees, a beautiful swimming pool, and 1000 olive trees that produce traditional Umbrian olive oil every year. The swimming pool, 14 meters in length, is discretely placed a few meters from the house, just out of sight, enjoying complete privacy. Il Berneto can host up to 20 people in summer. Supermarket, coffee shops and restaurants at walking distance.

In sum, Il Berneto was the absolute best rental property I have stayed at in Italy or rented with VRBO.Check-in was seamless - Martina was very communicative and upon arrival we had a thorough and fun tour from Angelino. The property exceeded expectations and was even more beautiful in person. The bedrooms (with AC) were perfect and there were plenty of bathrooms. We took advantage of the two kitchens as we were able to grocery shop at the family-run store down the road. Everyone was able to gather together and also have alone time in the various rooms, each with its own character and charm. The villa is so incredible you may not want to leave the grounds. The location was perfect for us as we wanted the ability to walk into town to get groceries or visit restaurants. We also took day trips to other towns, wineries and natural sites. It was a very easy drive from the FCO Airport and close to two train stations so we could do a day trip to Florence and also pick up guests coming in by train. A bonus was Martina's recommendations - she gave us wine shop recommendations (shout out to Umbrin Wine Shop who did the most incredible tasting for us at the villa), nail salons, wineries etc. Martina made sure we were able to do anything and everything we could think of (she arranged for chefs to come to the house for our final dinner).Thank you to Martina, her family, and Angelino for the incredible hospitality and and unforgettable stay. We will definitely be back.

Huge house, amazing location, great facilities, brilliant location to cafe/shops. Recommend the truffle hunting trip and the chefs who came to cook were exceptional. Excellent communication before and during and the house was excellent for our extended family (4 families, two with children). The swimming area was the best we’ve stayed at with plenty of sunbeds and lovely views. There isn’t really a main area to eat outside which has some shade, eg for dinner. There is a barn that is set back so comfortable for when raining, but if you want to eat outside by the view you have to carry the tables out and there isn’t anywhere with a little shade. A terrace would be a great addition.

This charming Italian Farmhouse was glorious. It perfectly accommodated our visiting family and friends. It was a great jumping off point for Florence and Rome. But the Umbrian countryside was not to be missed, including a trip to Assisi and Orvieto.Everything about the house was in good order. The villa was well stocked and very easy to live in. We were there for 25 days and found our time relaxing and fun.The seven bedrooms and bathrooms are spread between four floors. There was particular excitement about the bedroom at the very top where views are spectacular. The swimming pool was well used by our family and friends. It was serviced daily and always sparkling. The kitchen served us well! The small historic town of Monteleone d'Orvieto is absolutely lovely. We took almost daily walks down the long villa driveway and into town. Do not miss the painting by Perugino over the altar of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Also, you must stop by the Umbria Like a Local shop. Between Il Berneto and the historic town are two fantastic restaurants. Baciamano, is a family friendly café. Seven Café is delicious upscale dining. Both are open for lunch and dinner. At Baciamano you can also grab a morning cappuccino. As well, there is Caffe Latte, a gelateria and coffee shop, and a small grocery market. You will definitely need a car. But driving in this area of Italy was easy. Martina and her family were welcoming and treated us like friends. Do not miss out on Il Berneto!

This is our second stay at il Berneto. This time we shared it with 13 members of our family who found it enchanting. We all lead very busy lives and our stay here was peaceful and rejuvenating. Its central location not far off the A1 allowed us day trips to Siena, Orvieto, Florence, and a farther trip to Venice where we overnighted. The community of Monteleone d'Orvieto is most welcoming and the convenience of Caffelatte (pastries, coffee and gelato) and the Conad grocery was another plus. As it was quite hot during our visit, we made good use of the pool. The garden with fresh vegetables and the producing fruit trees were an unexpected delight. I don't think we've ever eaten so many apricots! All and all a highly recommended experience!,
