Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

We had a really great time at Mill Moor, it really suited my husband who is in a wheelchair as he could move easily around it. it was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely use it again.

Lovely holiday cottage, with friendly owners. The only thing for me was it didn’t have direct access to a garden for the dog.

The only thing I’ve marked this cottage down for is the location but that is only because of the restrictions caused by the closure of the bridge over the Eamont in Pooley Bridge. The scheduled opening of the brand new bridge was for the weekend after we left.

Mill Moor is one of 3 cottages at Barton Hall Farm. There are 4 bedrooms and this cottage sleeps 7. On the ground floor, accessible for wheelchair user, is a twin-bedded room, next to a walk-in shower and loo. Upstairs are 2 large double bedrooms, a single, and a bathroom with bath and loo. The large comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove is good to relax in and central heating keeps the cottage warm. There is access to an outside garden with views across to the fells and mountains. Very easy via A66 to access Bassenthwaite, Buttermere and the Eden Valley. We used the car park in Pooley Bridge to start a walk along Ullswater to Howtown. New Pooley Bridge due to open end of October but it’s easy to go round on the diversion to access Glenridding etc. Amanda and Nigel very welcoming as ever. Fresh flowers, cake etc on arrival. A peaceful and quiet place to escape for a week’s break.
