If you can draw yourself away from this idyllic spot, then the area is rich and diverse in tourist attractions, both natural and man-made. The area has some beautiful sandy beaches in pretty coves, which are backed by pretty cliffs, providing the perfect family day out.The historic fishing village of Mevagissey is 3½ miles away, with narrow lanes that all seem to lead to the pretty, bustling, working harbour. Here you will find many great pubs serving local food and ales, quaint coffee shops, and some great local independent shops.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan, a formerly overgrown and ‘lost’ gem of a garden, has been restored and is worth a visit, even if it is to see the ‘jungle’ and play hide and seek with the kids. The Eden Project is another world-class attraction within easy reach. There are pretty sub-tropical gardens to visit, stunning scenery, quaint fishing villages, and beaches, many with sailing, diving, and kayaking. Fowey is nearby, a seafaring town and former home of Daphne Du Maurier. It makes a great day out, especially for the restaurants and the cafés. You can catch a ferry from here to Mevagissey in the high season (weather permitting) and is a great way to see the coastline of St Austell Bay.

There is a wealth of activities locally including surfing, sailing, swimming, walking, horseriding, and many cycle trails with bike hire available. For golfers, there are plenty of courses from St Austell to Carlyon Bay’s excellent links course with stunning sea views. The nearest beach is just 4 miles. Shop 1¾ miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile. These properties can be booked together to sleep up to 6 guests.

We had a lovely stay at Camellia Cottage. The owners are very kind and accommodating! We arrived to a spotless and cosy cottage, and a thoughtful treat! The kitchen is fully equipped. Even loaf of bread, butter, jam and milk were there on our arrival.Lovely quiet surroundings where we could fully come to rest. Beautiful outlook from the big french windows. Loved the wood burner too, which adds to the cosiness.Amenities are not far off, and a couple of pubs nearby which offer great food.Perfect place for a lovely Cornish experience

Camelia Cottage was lovely for our Christmas break. Everything had been thought of, it was very well equipped, comfortable, clean and warm. The location is also beautiful and we loved the stream running through the end of the garden. The festive ‘welcome ‘ pack of goodies was also a nice touch and the milk in the fridge was a lifesaver on arrival! Our hosts were really helpful and I’ve already recommended the cottage to friends. Its location within easy travelling time to St Austell and Charlestown was just right.

We had a fantastic week at Camellia Cottage. It is tastefully decorated and very well equipped with everything you need, obviously a lot of thought has gone into this. We had some lovely walks and enjoyed the Lost Gardens of Heligan, plus Lobbs farm shop that's located next to their carpark. Would recommend the cottage and definitely stay again when we're back.
