The city of York has a wide variety of interesting museums, including the Railway Museum, Castle Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre, and is very picturesque, with cobbled streets surrounding the magnificent minster. The North York Moors and Coast, together with the Dales, are accessible as an alternative day out. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

You did not tell us that building works were taking place directly outside the cottage. The owners were surprised we were not aware. Both owners and builders were as considerate as they could but they were still there.
