Repose Cottage is a well-appointed, semi-detached property adjoining the owner’s home in the crofting township of Crossbost in the North Lochs with outstanding views over Loch Leurbost, open countryside and several other small lochans. Set in a very central location for exploring all of the area, the property is 10 miles from the main town of Stornoway which has much to offer in shopping, restaurants, museums and An Lanntair – Lantern art centre and cultural venue. Enjoy days out visiting the historical sites of the Callanish Stones, Carolway Broch, Ness Heritage Centre, Bosta and Great Benera. Blackhouse Village is also worth a visit or just enjoy the pristine sandy beaches on the west coast. Uig Bay is where the famous Lewis Chessmen were found. There is an abundance of wildlife nearby and it is a birdwatcher’s paradise, and loch and sea angling can also be found locally. Boat trips depart from Stornoway, Uig and Great Bernera for whale or dolphin watching and also further afield to the Shiant Isles and St Kilda. The area has so much to offer so come, explore and enjoy. Beach 200 yards. Shop and restaurant 3 miles.

We highly recommend that you book your ferry as soon as possible as ferries get very busy. You can call Calmac on 0800 066 5000. For ferries that travel to Orkney are Northlink Ferries 08001114422 and Pentland Ferries 0800 688 8998. We also recommend taking out travel insurance in case of delays and cancellations.

The view from the lounge window is amazing. The cottage was sparkling clean and had everything we could've needed plus a packet of Tunnocks wafers and a bottle of wine The closest shop is the garage on the main road out of Stornoway so make sure you have enough supplies when you arrive as the shops are all closed on Sunday. There is a Tesco and Co-op in Stornoway for a bigger shop. We stayed in October and were very lucky with the weather. We travelled to Harris and to the north end of Lewis from this location easily. The standing stones at Callanish are not far away either. We would definitely come back

A very comfortable cottage with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. The cottage is well positioned fro visiting all of Lewis and Harris and the views from the lounge are wonderful across the loch. The hosts are very welcoming leaving a bottle of wine and biscuits as well as tea and coffee and were on hand to sort any problems. We would thoroughly recommend it an plan to return next year

Lovely week staying at this cottage. Brian and Wendy were very helpful and welcoming and we had a super time. Amazingly the weather was very kind! For Lewis!
