This charming cottage boasts a cosy wood burner and enclosed garden, ideal for families with children and pets all year round.. 1 step to entrance.

Nestled in the midst of a small terrace of similar properties, Melandra is a charming cottage that has been fully restored with thought, care and attention to detail. The wood burner in the living room ensures a cosy welcome regardless of the season, and the separate dining room adds to the comfort. There is a pristine kitchen and a convenient cloakroom on the ground floor too. The beautifully presented bedrooms and immaculate bathroom are on the first floor. Oozing charm and character, this delightful cottage has an enclosed garden with a large lawned area and patio, the perfect spot to dine al fresco whilst the children and pets play, as well as off road parking for 2 cars.
The pretty village of Belford is just over a mile away, where a warm welcome regularly greets visitors. The village is often described as the ’Gateway to the Secret Kingdom’, and offers many facilities including shops, a tea room, pubs renowned for serving delicious food, and an impressive golf driving range. The picture-postcard coastal village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic fortress and golden sandy beach, is a mere 6 miles east. The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, 12 miles west, which is a popular destination for cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse riding and walking. The challenging route of St Cuthbert’s Way passes close by. Chatton Trout Fisheries is close by and invites amateur anglers to fish without a rod licence on a picturesque 4-acre lake. Although Melandra is quietly situated, the A1 is less than a mile away, giving easy access to the elegant Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed to the north, and the market town of Alnwick, with its dramatic castle, to the south. Both offer a wide array of amenities and are equidistant at 15 miles. Alnwick Garden is very popular and makes a great day out. See the Grand Cascade waterfall and then enjoy a meal in the restaurant within the largest treehouse in Europe. The vibrant cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Edinburgh are an hours’ drive away, or take the train from Berwick or Alnmouth. Melandra offers delightful accommodation in an excellent location. It makes a great base from which to explore the Northumbrian countryside to the west, along with the Heritage Coast, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east, and the Scottish Borders to the north. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.

This is a great cottage - extremely spacious and well equipped, it felt perhaps a little too big for the three of us! (Including the puppy). I loved that the kitchen was modern and you could find everything you needed, and that the garden was well maintained, with no plants. Having a puppy means that she tends to put everything in her mouth, so it gave me great comfort to know there wasn't much she could do, and she could be left outside on her own. The cottage was spotless, and had comfortable beds, plenty of throws and cushions, and soft sheets.The location is excellent, within easy reach of Alnwick and Holy Island. There's also a small supermarket about 5 min away (by car). It would have been even better if the cottage had been stocked with fire wood and fire starters, or if we had been told none would be provided, so we could buy some. Not a problem, but we arrived late after an 8h drive on a frosty November night and I was looking forward to thawing by a fire. There may have been an issue with the upstairs heaters as well, as the upstairs was quite cold (especially the bathroom!), but that can probably be sorted by draining the heaters. All in all, I really liked it at Melandra Cottages and would definitely stay here again.

Cottage was lovely and clean and was well equipped. Garden was great and so relaxing to spend time in. Only one small issue was not any walks for dogs from the cottage we had to take dog in car to find loads of walks within a short drive. Overall we had a great time.
