About this house rental

The Bridge House was built in 1908 and functioned originally as Newgard's Store on old Highway One, which ran down to and across the Albion River. Beautifully expanded and restored in 2001, and updated in 2015, the home boasts redwood construction, wainscoting, a 10-foot ceiling in the living/kitchen area, two bedrooms, a back parlor, two bathrooms and full kitchen. It is surrounded by lush gardens brimming with coast-loving plants in bloom throughout the seasons.

Perched on the cliffs on the south-east side of the Albion River Bridge -- the last wooden bridge on Highway One -- the Bridge House offers birds-eye views of the Albion River and Bay. Lie in bed and listen to the waves crash against the wooden bridge timbers or sit on the deck and follow the birds gliding the currents. Sunsets are spectacular from the Albion Cove where you can find the fossilizing remnants of the logging railroad. Like kayaks or canoes? Walk down to Pacific Union College to rent a water exploration vehicle or if you have your own watercraft, head over the bridge to the "Flats" and launch for an up- or down-river ride for a small launch fee.

This is a great retreat for a family vacation, romantic weekend, or fun with friends. Located just seven miles from the village of Mendocino, the Bridge House is close to beaches, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and much more. The Mendocino coast offers myriad activities for young, old and those in between! A short walk from the Albion store, which stocks fine wines, deli items, and just about anything you could possibly need, the house is also just a short walk from fine dining at the Ledford House. The Albion River Inn & Restaurant is just over the bridge.

The downstairs bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress and cozy cotton linens. It is connected to a bathroom with a shower, claw foot tub for two, and vanity. Up the wooden stairs, you'll find another queen-size bed with your own private balcony, comfort on a pillow-top mattress, and bathroom with claw foot tub and vanity. Radiant heat throughout the house provides comfort in any season.

The kitchen is stocked with the not-so-usual suspects; five-burner Italian stove, electric kettle, French press coffee pot, Cafepresso machine; drawer dishwasher; fridge; plus plates, cutlery, cookware, wine and beer glasses, etc.

A lovely place to stay with lots of room, a wonderful view, all the amenities, and a great location. Alison provided great communication and all the instructions to find the house, how to get in, and how to close it up. Would absolutely stay again.

The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook a fabulous meal, the upstairs bedroom is quaint and comfortable. Great place the read, a computer desk, cozy bedding and the bed mattress was superb. As for pets, be sure you keep them on a leash as highway 1 is right there. There’s lovely gardens on the property that’s perfect to walk or sit outside with your pet. I would make a suggestion to have doggy bags available and a sign to clean up. Living room furniture is very nice and comfortable. One thing I was worried about was not having a television. It was okay though without. We actually talked more. I rated the location low but to me the area is run down, not the house area, just all around. I thought the bridge was going to be the Navarro bridge so I was surprised it wasn’t. The shrubs should be cut back so more can be seen for us short people. Other than that it’s a great rental.

This is a very nice quality house with attention to detail. The kitchen is very well stocked and the knives are sharp. Furniture and beds are comfortable. We did put sheets over the bedroom blinds because I read comments about the car lights at night, didn't have any issues. We did have a neighbor roofing noise issue when we arrived but then they stopped working for the remainder of our stay. No TV
