The Overlook is nestled into the west facing slope on the edge of Yachats overlooking the Yachats River. It affords an uninterrupted view of the river as it flows into the Pacific Ocean kicking up the surf over a broad tidal beach, spouting horns, and rocky outcrops. This home has it all: the peaceful serenity of ocean views plus easy walking distance to the beach or the bustling center of town. Whether you’re in the mood for dining out, watching a movie, or simply unwinding from your fast paced life, at The Overlook you will find the best of both worlds.
After viewing the spectacular sunset from the wrap around balcony or through the ceiling to floor windows in the living/dining area, you can relax in the comfortable living room, cook in the gourmet kitchen, and watch TV or movies on the 40” High Definition LCD panel TV.
You’ll sleep comfortably in the master bedroom king sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a jetted tub, separate shower, and large walk-in closet. Downstairs the guest room has a queen sized bed and shares a beautiful bath that includes a large tub with enclosed shower. The 3rd bedroom is set up for the kids with a bunk bed that sleeps 3 and a futon that could sleep 2 more. It has its own 36” TV plus DVD player!
Leave your car in the ample parking and walk two blocks to the local restaurants and shops. You can visit Luna Sea Fish House to buy your fish or dine there. Close by is the Green Salmon where you can have a cup of organic coffee or tea. Across the street is C&K market for all your grocery needs. Yachats has it all: a Sunday Farmer’s Market, an ice cream shop, gourmet wine shop, bakery, fly fishing shop, general mercantile, and more.
It is also an easy walk to both the South Shore Tidal Beach for fun in the sand and the North Shore 804 Trail which follows along the Yachats spectacular rocky coastline. The Yachats community is especially proud of the newly inaugurated Amanda Trail which winds its way south to the top of Cape Perpetua.
Dogs love the beach and are welcome to join you (2 Maximum) at The Overlook. The balcony can be closed off so your pooch can securely lounge in the sun. There is also a kennel in the garage where your dog can sleep comfortably while you are off shopping or beach combing.
We pride ourselves on our cleanliness. All of the bedding is washed after every rental. We take particular care after we have dog visitors. Our cleaning staff takes the extra time to steam clean the flooring plus they find and remove every nose print from the numerous windows!

I and two friends stayed in this house for a week in late October. It was perfect for us and two dogs, with 3 bedrooms *and* 3 baths, which is quite unusual for an affordable rental on the coast! The beds were very comfortable, bedding and towels lovely. The kitchen is stocked with good quality cookware, utensils and dishes, and prior guests have left a lot of condiments and spices in the cupboards. Best part - the most fantastic views of the surf meeting the river! Whatever the weather - and we did get to experience some intense squalls as well as gorgeous sunsets - it's ever changing and thrilling to watch. There were a few minor maintenance issues that have been brought to the owner's attention, although nothing that spoiled our stay in any way.Just a note that there are two flights of stairs to get into the living area, so if you have mobility issues you'll want to stay elsewhere. But that view was well worth the climb for these old bones.I would definitely stay here again.

The Overlook is an absolute gem just like Yachats itself. The house sits just above the main drag with sweeping views of the River and ocean. It’s comfortable and has some good sleeping options. It’s easy to sit out on the deck and just take it all in. There are several aspects of the home that could use a little extra love such as functional shower heads, a well loved pet house, a leaky garbage disposal, etc., however the pure charm of the place overshadows any issues.I would stay here again and hope to do so.
