About this cabin rental
Our cabin is located right on Apple Valley Lake just outside of Mt Vernon, OH. The house is a beautiful 3750ft. log cabin with 3 levels, 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 2 decks overlooking the lake. You can enjoy our dock that has comfy furniture, large table and chairs with umbrellas. Relax and have fun swimming, floating and fishing off of our dock while enjoying great views of the lake (Apple Valley lake is private and therefore only access from our dock is permitted). In the winter time it is a great place to getaway, SnowTrails is only 20 miles away where you can ski, snowboard and tube. Our favorite is night tubing! When weather permits you can ice skate at Malabar Farms, only 19 miles away. The house is decorated for the Holidays, each bedroom has a little touch of Christmas and warm comfy bedding.
On the main floor is a gourmet kitchen with everything you could need, a cozy great room, one bedroom with queen size bed and full bath The 2nd floor has the Master Bedroom with king size bed, and a bedroom with a twin over full size bunk bed and a full bath. The lower level has a bedroom with a queen size bed, and a bedroom that has 2 twins beds with pullout trundles for sleep for 4, we call it the kids bedroom, a full bath and 2nd family room with 65” TV, set up with cable, and options for Netflix, Hulu and more.
The lake is 511 acres and is known to be the cleanest lake in Ohio. It is a beautiful setting. Relax and have fun swimming, floating and fishing off of our dock while enjoying great views of the lake. In the summer you can watch the Osprey catch fish. In the fall and winter, American Bald Eagles are often seen.
While staying at our cabin there are so many fun outdoor activities in the Knox and Ashland Counties you will never be bored! Mohican State park is 15 miles away where you can enjoy hiking, canoeing, tubing, go-carts and more. If you like adventure, there is Tree Frog Canopy Tours https://www.treefrogcanopytours.com on Wally Road which is less than 25 mins away. Malabar Farm State Park is 20 miles away, and if you like shopping at quaint little shops, visit Berlin in Amish (36 miles)country for a full day, make sure you have breakfast or lunch at Boyd & Wurthmann Restaurant (cash only). There are also great shops on the way in Millersburg. Kokosing River Canoe is only 10 mins away, they offer canoeing, kayaking and tubing down the river, https://kokosingvalley.com/canoeing/canoe-and-kayak-rates. If you are a golfer you can’t get a nicer public course than Apple Valley Golf Course which is open to everyone.

This was our second stay at the house. The first time was over a long weekend in October. This trip we stayed a full week in August. The view was great from the porch and the dock. We visited Malabar Farm and the grist mill- both were very interesting. The house is very spacious and accommodated all 8 of us. The registration and payment processes were easy. Mike and Tricia were responsive to questions and provided all instructions when they said they would.We hope to go back in 2026

This is a beautiful home on a gorgeous lake. The house is spacious and the owners are wonderful to communicate with. We had a lovely time.
