About this cottage rental
Come discover our house made into a new home. the cottage is very spacious, modern, bright, original, quiet, comfortable .... in the middle of a field without direct neighborhood surrounded by nature (farmland with local plants), it is part of a logical development sustainable (floor heating aerothermal) ... It is located in the Calais region in a green hills of Boulogne, near the most beautiful coastal sites of the Opal coast (cliffs of white nose cap 5 km, Cape gray nose 15 km, stations sandy beaches of Wissant, Sangatte, blériot ...), 4 km from the forest of guines, with the ability to perform many varied activities close (sailing, hiking, mountain biking, tree climbing, surfing, sailing, shopping, museum visits ...).

We spend our family summer holidays at the Côte d'Opale, at the Opale Inn. The most important thing, we've spent a very relaxing two weeks. The Gite offers everything you can think of. A well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable bedding, a clean and spacious bathroom and a very, very spacious living area.There are several streaming services available, if there is a rainy day, but we brought our FireTV stick with us, so we haven't really used it. That said, the internet connection is very good, it is well offering the use of streaming devices.The kitchen is equipped with every appliance you would expect in a kitchen, as we've been cooking mostly in, we had a good chance of using it and it worked as you would expect.The bedrooms are comfortable and cozy, we slept nice and well. The master bedroom is equipped with an extra shower, which we haven't used, but if you want too....All and all we had a great summer holiday and plan to come back.Finally, Nathalie and Jean-Marc are a very comforting host couple. They do live not far away and came around several times if everything is fine and if we need any help to get around, which we gladly used, and based on that, our trip to Lille with the TGV (there is a TGV station 5min away) and seeing the "dragon" in Calais where a great success.Again, thank you, we're planning to come back next year....Mark

I’m surprised that there aren’t more reviews of this property given the amount of bookings they apparently have as this is a super find. An unusually spacious, clean, well equipped modern property with a large garden surrounded by farmland. Very peaceful and quiet, the sound of birdsong, just the odd car passing by. Great to have a shower and sink in one of the bedrooms in addition to the facilities downstairs. Comfortable beds. Sufficient equipment for self catering as we cook in, and a good size fridge freezer and modern oven. They also have access to Netflix and Prime which was appreciated. A short bike ride or drive to the nearest town, Guines, and we didn’t need to drive more than 20 minutes to get to the coast or biking areas. Nathalie and Jean Marc, who live close by, were very helpful and we appreciated Nathalie’s patience with our French :-)

Wonderful property in a lovely quiet area of northern france.
Excellent location for exploring northern France and in to Belgium. Extremely quiet and peaceful with visits from wild deer and bats in the evening.

Het huis is zeer schoon en licht, met mooi uitzicht over de velden. Wij vonden het verrassend dat de eigenaar in een gedeelte van de woning schijnbaar een kantoor heeft, waar hij af en toe komt. Hoewel de eigenaar zeer discreet en aardig was, vonden wij de onvoorspelbaarheid van zijn verschijnen wat onbehaaglijk. Het gite-gedeelte van het huis was tip-top in orde : gerieflijke keuken, goede TV met satelliet, zeer goede bedden... het tuinmeubilair is verouderd en er zijn geen kussens, waardoor ook niet echt comfortabel. Voor ons en de kinderen was de abominabele kwaliteit van de WiFi een probleem. De eigenaar heeft voor ons een keer de modem (in zijn kantoor) gereset maar dat hielp ook niet. Het dorpje Hames-Boucres kent 1 klein winkeltje/bar/tabak... De openingsuren zijn erg ‘variabel’ en brood moet een dag op voorhand besteld worden.
Het huis ligt 4 km van het enorme winkelcomplex Eurocity, en 8 km van de kust. Wij vonden het niet zo prettig om telkens we naar de kust wilden, te passeren langs de kilometers hoge hekken met prikkeldraad en de bewaking rondom de Eurotunnel in Frethun. In de omgeving van het huis zijn wel mooie wandelingen te doen, en er zijn wat leuke dorpjes verder landinwaarts. In het huis is veel informatie te vinden over wat je allemaal kan doen in de streek, terug te vinden in zeer verzorgde mappen.
