About this house rental
The villa, surrounded by olive trees, lies 2 km from the charming village of Montecchio in a hilly and very quiet location with panoramic sights on the Tevere valley, halfway the beautiful cities of Orvieto and Todi (both around 25 kms far away) and 35 kms from the sand beaches of the Bolsena lake. It is a quiet location and there aren't other houses directly around (nearest one at 700 meters) so it is an ideal place if you search privacy. The whole property is for private use of the tenant and it is suitable for up to 10 persons. There are 4 bedrooms (two with double bed, one with double and single bed, one with 2 single bed). The 2 on the 1st floor have air conditioning. Baby cot and extra bed available on request. In front of the house there is a 9 by 3 meter swimming pool, the pool area is fenced for the security of the small children. There is an equipped covered terrace to eat outdoor with sight on the pool and panoramic sight on the Tiber valley. On the lower floor there is a large dining/living room with a well equipped kitchen. Bedroom with double bed, bedroom with double and single bed (both have direct access to the garden). One bathroom. At the upper floor there is a double bedroom and the oter has 2 single beds. This floor has 2 bathrooms. All the most common household appliances are available. Broadband Wi-fi internet connection available through satellite. From Montecchio it's possible to reach quickly the principal cultural and naturalistic beauties of Umbria, Rome and northern Lazio, southern Tuscany (it's at 20kms from the motorway Rome-Florence, exit Orvieto). The train station of Orvieto is at 25 Kms, from the train station it is possible to reach Rome and Florence in around 1h30. In the village of Montecchio thereare: bar, baker, butcher, small supermarket, grocery, pharmacy. There are 3 more supermarkets and other shops in Baschi (11km). Big supermarket, often open on Sunday, available in Orvieto Scalo close to the motorway exit. Recommendend restaurants: La Perla (in the centre of the village of Montecchio, Sala della Comitessa (Baschi, 11 kms), Casa Vissani (Baschi, 11 kms...very expensive), Il fontanile (7 kms from Montecchio). At 10 km it is possible to visit the Falesco winery (visits and tasting from Monday to Friday).

Lovely secluded and peaceful property. Fantastic views from the terrace and delightfully refreshing swimming pool. This was our second visit and it didn’t disappoint.

After booking in 2019 covid had caused a couple of changes to our booking, Guido (villa manager) was very supportive and helped with all our changes which was greatly appreciated, Guido’s communication via email was great, he would get back to me within 24 hrs of any question I had.
2022 and finally our dream holiday was becoming a reality. We flew into Rome and hired a car (which is a must to travel and see the different areas of Umbria) it took us just under 2hrs to drive.
When we arrived to the villa we were blown away by the most incredible view. The villa itself was beautiful, large bedrooms, great entertaining space downstairs and a lovely patio dining area which we spent most of our evenings playing cards with a glass of wine :-)
The pool was perfect, and our kids loved every second, a lovely gentleman came to clean the pool 2/3 times a week which was also great!
Beautiful surroundings, there are the most amazing sunsets every evening which we would relax back and watch from the patio :-)
We saw porcupines, lizards, scorpions, deer right in the grassland by the villa, it was incredible!
The road is a bit bumpy on the drive up to the villa but after a few drives you get the hang of how to drive on that terrain ;-)
Tips on amazing places to visit locally, Orvieto was our favourite place (the cathedral at night is breathtaking) some beautiful places to visit and great gelato bars! Todi is also lovely very hilly!
Lake bolsena was a hit with the kids, they spent hours swimming in the lake with the most beautiful views, it was so warm like a bath.
A couple of adults visited marmore falls which was a bit too hot for the kids to walk around.
Montecchio has a lovely little village store where a gentleman sells his very own home made Olive oil which was delicious. Lots of local wines to try. All the locals were so friendly to us, Google translate became our best friend as many locals could not speak English. We loved this experience. If your looking for a holiday in an area not full of tourists Umbria is perfect.
This villa was perfect, where we made lots of special memories with our family! Thankyou Guido and your team for a great overall experience, highly recommended :-)

Casa davvero bella in posizione molto tranquilla.
Bello il borgo medioevale di Montecchio.
Da visitare il frantoio Bartolomei e l'azienda vinicola della Fam. Cotarella.
Ottima comunicazione con il responsabile dell'agenzia.
Unico consiglio che darei è maggiore attenzione nella manutenzione generale: diversi oggetti rotti (retina pulizia piscina, sdrai piscina, micro onde, divanetto area ping pong), diverse lampadine mancanti/fulminate (zona esterna) e caldaia non adatta per utilizzo docce in contemporanea.
In generale, comunque, un'esperienza più che buona.

We had 2 wonderful weeks in Montecchio, nice place, nice people, nice food. Very good position between Siena and Rome, lot to see like Orvieto and ViterboUmbria is really fantastic
