Its panoramic position and its peaceful isolation amongst the verdant mountains of Cortona make the farmhouse La Coccinella one of the most attractive accommodation facilities in the Cortona area and surroundings. The farm is located 11 miles away from Cortona in a position that allows it to benefit from the warmth of the sun all day long.
The farm, surrounded by lawns and forests, is perched at a height of 650 metres a.s.l. and enjoys a stunning view of the valley of the river Minimella and the Tuscan and Umbrian Apennines.
Far from trafficked roads and from the hustle and bustle of the city the farm is an ideal place to spend your holidays in absolute quiet and offers its guests all modern comforts (swimming-pool and other facilities) and the chance to reach all most attractive centres of Tuscany and Umbria by car within minutes.

Nous avons passé une quinzaine de jours très agréable à la Coccinella.
Entre repos, baignades, restaurants, découvertes, visites... tout était réuni pour déconnecter complètement.
L'endroit (600m d'altitude) permet de bénéficier d'un panorama exceptionnel sur les montagnes environnantes.
Les premiers jours de notre arrivée, un vent assez fort nous a un peu surpris mais il s'est calmé pour laisser place à un air léger et plus frais.
Après une petite marche matinale pour se rendre au bout du chemin, la formule du petit-déjeuner proposée par Marcia est vraiment agréable, tout y est : gâteaux, confitures et spécialités maison, charcuterie, fromage, café, lait chaud... L'échange est très facile avec des personnes accueillantes.
Quelques produits frais permettent également de profiter de la production locale : salades, courgettes, concombres, œufs, melons...
La Coccinella étant située à la limite de l'Ombrie, les paysages de Toscane tel que nous les imaginions se retrouvent en remontant plus vers le Nord avec Sienne, Volterra, San Gimignano****.
Plusieurs villages médiévaux environnants méritent vraiment le détour : Cortona, Arezzo, Pérouse, Gubbio...
2h de route pour se rendre à Florence car il faut descendre de la montagne (environ 25 mn pour atteindre Cortona).
Le petit restaurant à 1km à l'Est est aussi très typique. Je vous conseille le plateau Mix Spécial avec un assortiment varié suivi d'une pizza à la truffe, un délice pour un rapport qualité/prix au top.
Finir sa journée en extérieur autour d'une parties de cartes en appréciant la grappa locale!!!
Même si cela ne nous a pas vraiment manqué, un micro-ondes et un lave-vaisselle pourrait être ajouté et le confort serait total ;-)

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine à la Coccinella. C'est un endroit merveilleux pour qui aime la nature et le contact avec les habitants. Le gîte, une ancienne bâtisse, est très bien restauré, très agréable et fonctionnel, l'extérieur très spacieux est également aménagé avec goût. Tout est fait pour que l'on se sente bien.
L'accueil des propriétaires est très chaleureux. Le petit déjeuner offert chez eux est un moment privilégié ou l'on peut échanger. C'est tellement rare de nos jours ….
C'est un endroit idéal pour se reposer au calme, mais aussi faire du sport : randonnées pédestre, ballade à vélo ou aussi visiter les magnifiques villes et villages alentours typiques de la Toscane comme Cortona ainsi que les incontournables villes italiennes Florence et ces magnifiques monuments, Pise et sa tour penchée Sienne et son impressionnante Piazza del Campo !

We logeerden hier in juli 14 dagen met 4 volwassenen en 4 kinderen (van 3, 6, 7 en 8) en hadden er een prachtige vakantie (waarom huurden we dit niet voor een maand??). Ideaal huis om te delen met twee families. De tuin, het overdekt terras en het zwembad (omheind en met hekje) zijn prachtig en worden door Costantino en de familie perfect en discreet (voor dag en dauw) onderhouden. Er is geen zithoek in de huisjes. In juli leef je natuurlijk buiten, maar als het weer minder goed is, kan je niet even in een zetel gaan zitten. Kickertafel, pingpongtafel, schommel en een barbecue die Costantino op eikenhout laat branden. De Pacchi's zijn eigenaar van de halve berg, tot aan het riviertje in het dal, en je kan hun hele domein verkennen. Ze hebben geiten, kippen, schapen, ezels, ajuinvelden, olijfgaarden, drie vijvers en er zijn wandelingen tot aan het riviertje uitgestippeld op hun eigen domein.
Echt een prachtige hoek van Umbrisch Toscane, met een kilometersver uitzicht op beboste heuvels, je hoort totaal niets.
Winkels zijn zeker een half uur rijden langs kronkelende baantjes (tip: richting Umbrië kronkelt het minder dan naar Cortona), dus bij aankomst de eerste dag kan je best genoeg eten meebrengen.
Veel hebben we er niet gekookt (keuken in orde maar erg basic, en we misten een klein beetje een vaatwas...), maar we waren grote fans van restaurant Acquaviva op 10 minuten wandelen, pizza's vanaf 4 euro, pasta vanaf 5 en heerlijke verse groenten en rundvlees.
Over het ontbijt (5 minuutjes te voet naar hun huis boven op de heuvel), de gastvrijheid, groenten, wijn, feestmaal bij de Pacchi's... die je gratis erbij krijgt, kan ik niets toevoegen aan de andere reacties: het is allemaal geweldig.
