About this cottage rental
Designed with families in mind, the house is also great for small groups. Many guest considerations have been taken into account when setting up this property - comfy beds, beautiful bed linen, essentials (shampoo, shower gel, tea, coffee), fast WiFi, and large TV with Netflix.
The property has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard by the owners, providing a superb holiday home comprising the following: Open plan Lounge, Dining and Kitchen, small utility room on the ground floor, three bedrooms (an en-suite) and a bathroom on the upper floors.
The cosy lounge has a large leather 3 seat sofa and two arm chairs around an electric feature wood burning stove. A large TV is positioned above the stove on the chimney breast which is connected to an Apple TV box that has a Netflix account, for those that wish to chill out in an evening.
The dining area has a large table and six chairs and plenty of room. The fully equipped luxury kitchen with marble worktops includes an Aga electric oven/grill and gas hob. An American style large fridge freezer with filtered water and ice, micro-wave, toaster and dishwasher.
Off the kitchen there is a small utility room that has a washer dryer, utility sink and a useful downstairs toilet. Parking is on street at the front of the property with a permit.
The rear yard is a beautiful place to sit on a warm evening. A perfect spot for a morning coffee alfresco or an evening glass of wine.
The main bedroom has a king size iron bed, with plenty of wardrobes and an en-suite shower room with basin and wc. The rear bedroom has a comfy double bed, single wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Loft / third bedroom has two single beds, (please note that upon request these can be made up to form a king size bed - although guests should be aware that this room does have head height restrictions being within the roof space. There is a travel cot available for use.
The main bathroom consists of a large bath with overhead shower, wc, bidet and basin.

Excellent communication throughout. A very well equipped and comfortable cottage in a quiet area but only a few minutes walk from the river, a few more minutes to the city centre and, in our case, the Christmas markets. Lots of nice touches made this a real home from home. We had a great week here.

Fairfax Street is a very comfortable and welcoming house, with plenty of room for our party of 4 adults and two children. It's smart and very well-kept, especially considering that it's dog-friendly. The location is excellent, with easy walking to everywhere in central York, but on a very quiet street. There are a couple of very squeaky floorboards in the attic bedroom which sound in the master double below, but understandable as it's a period property. We had a great stay and would defininteley recommend.

The house is situated close to the high street near city centre.
Parking is on the a very narrow street.
The house was recently renovated but several things were not checked before it went up for rentals so we were the first to find the problems like bath tub plug doesn't work properly, or that the door handle to the bathroom comes off when you use it, or that the fan in the downstairs toilet fan is broken, or that the back door to the tiny patio garden was poorly fitted such that it takes a lot of effort to shut it.
We were happy to ignore all of that until we were asked to leave a day early by the agency because the landlord double booked up with another family who were arriving on our second to last day. That almost ruined the trip. And then we were physically shouted at by the landlord when we last 10 minutes after the 10am checkout time. She really scared my kids that day!
In all the placed I know and have been to, there is a 30-60 minute courtesy period after checkout time to allow for last minute things.
There are many properties in York. I'm sure you can find another one without such problems as this one.
