Nestled just inside the Tahoe National Forest, this beautiful log home sits high atop the remnants of an old hydraulic gold mine with panoramic views of Banner Mountains and the woods. This unique home gives one the experience of being peacefully secluded, yet is a short seven mile drive to downtown Nevada City, offering fine dining, entertainment, museums and shopping. The Retreat is ideal for family reunions, workshops and vacations for relaxing and recreation. If you are a writer looking for a place to peace out, there is no better place.
A stones throw from the Retreat lies a charming community park with a swimming, Kayak, Paddle Board pond, beautiful walking trail, horseshoe pit, BBQ area, playground and sand volleyball court.
The park is for rent and makes a great venue for a casual, affordable weddings, family reunions, or group get together's. Ask owner about it.
Popular Scott's Flat Lake is less than a mile away. The south side boat ramp, provides access for swimming, hiking, boating, water skiing, sailing, fishing and kayaking and paddle boarding on this pristine body of water. The fishing is awesome too!
Master suite with queen bed, private bath. Second bedroom offers a queen log framed bed and the third bedroom features two twin beds and a game table. Loft includes a full size sofa bed. Queen size Aerobed air mattress is also available.

Lost Mine Retreat is very private. For the security of our guest travelers, the exterior driveway, all cabin entry areas, including hot tub egress, are motion sensor photo recorded.

We had a great time at the Lost Mine Retreat. The house is exactly as described and pictured on VRBO. The location is a bit isolated being 15 minutes from Nevada City and a few minutes from Scott's Flat Reservoir, but it's very quiet and private at the house. The bedrooms were all clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The hot tub worked great and the paddle boards and kayaks were a bonus. It was also nice walking down around the nearby neighborhood pond although the mosquitos were brutal in May. The bears are definitely active in this area, so be careful with your trash!

We came to Nevada City to consider relocating and wanted to spend time in a neighborhood and found the property in a lovely location although a few minutes from the commercial district which we decided was a good thing. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating which made us feel welcome and want to return to the home again.
