About this house rental
The Wheeler/Smith unit is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, sleeps 6, parking for 3 vehicles. This cute cabin is located on the North side of Donner Lake, and is one of our direct lake access units. There are public docks just across the street that are available on a first come, first served basis. It has a large front deck overlooking Donner Lake and the surrounding mountains as well as another, quieter, patio deck on the back side of the house. Enter into the home through the garage. Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen sized bed, lake views and a connecting bathroom with a single vanity sink, toilet, and shower stall. Continue up 12 stairs to the second story where you will find the other 2 bedrooms, bathroom and main living areas. The main level features open concept kitchen, living and dining areas as well as 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The well stocked kitchen has been recently updated with quartz counter tops and breakfast bar. The sunken living room features wood paneled ceilings with exposed wood beams, a wood-burning fireplace and abundant windows to take advantage of the beautiful lake views. Access the large front deck via a sliding glass door off the dining area and take advantage of the built-in benches, patio furniture and lake views. The kids room is off the living area and has 2 twin over twin bunk beds. The other bedroom is on the other side of the stairs with a king sized bed, TV, DVD player, good natural light and lake views. The adjoining bathroom has a single sink vanity, toilet, and large shower stall with sliding glass doors. This unit rents with a 2 night minimum. Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am. The Wheeler/Smith unit#038 offers a 10% discount off the rent to Active Military Members. Amazing view. Wonderful property. Perfect distance to the ski resorts and downtown Donner. We didn’t realize that we had to pick up the keys at the office (it was in the contract but we missed it) but they were amazing at communication and everything got sorted out quickly. Place felt right. Thank you for hosting us. Hopefully we’ll get to stay again.

We loved the house, hands-down our best experience living in the mountains. Snow in the backyard, facing Donner lake, easy beach access 3 minute drive from our home, 15 minutes from Truckee with snow activities, what's not to like about it. Easily the best accessible spot to rent a home. We were blessed with great weather, and clear skies with stars and a beautiful moon to gaze at in the wee hours of the morning.The house is stocked with everything you might need, and we loved it was so cozy. We'll come back for sure.

The house had so much room for us. The beds were very comfy. The open living room and kitchen space is very stylish. Stunning lake view. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

Overall, the property location is excellent! It has a beautiful lake view. However, the property can use a bit more cleaning. We have found dirty socks in the sofa and next to washer. The worst was that internet and TV services were out during our 5 days stay. The owner and property management team tried 3 times and still were not able to fix the issue. We couldn't work and kids did not have much entertainment during the stay.
