Excellent location and parking in the shopping centre directly behind the hotel is convenient and inexpensive. The lady at reception is extremely helpful and friendly.
First impressions are the facilities look great. Well decorated entrance hall with a coffee shop. The lift is slow but works, I was on the 4th floor. The rooms are small with scuff marks all over the walls and offerings are extremely basic. No hairdryer and the kettle was filthy on the outside. Did not dare use this for my entire stay and thought I would go to the coffee shop instead. Stood there for over 10minutes and no one to be seen even at reception so gave up on that idea. Bed was a low level Divan with stains on the bed itself. The sheets and pillow cases looked very clean. The bathroom was in a sad state of repair with a small shower tray and a curtain. Pleasantly surprised that the water flow was good…. For all of two minutes when it stopped dead. Shampoo in hair, I fiddled with the valve with no success. Happened to touch the temperature control valve and the water came back for a few seconds and shut off again. Kept having to adjust the temperature control for it to come back on and I could rinse my hair.
They ask for your key to be left at reception when you leave the hotel which I think is a safety issue. Others over hear your room number time and again. If you want to gain entry after 11pm, you have to press a buzzer which I did 6 times before the night porter let me in. I did start to panic that I would not be able to get back in.
I decided not to stay the second night and cut my weekend short. Out of pocket but felt better getting home.
