Our stay was pleasant enough overall. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are generally friendly, and the location is good. However, several issues detracted from the experience: We emailed and called ahead of arrival but received no response, and no one answered the phone. On arrival on New Year’s Eve, we asked for local recommendations for the evening and were met with an unhelpful response; the staff member said he didn’t know the area. Breakfast options were limited, particularly for vegetarians. The hotel feels tired: many areas could do with a fresh coat of paint, the lifts are impractical, and the carpets are worn. Overall, the atmosphere felt soulless, which was disappointing for a hotel in the Lake District. For the price, it did not feel good value for money and does not meet 4-star expectations.

Great location with views to Windermere and a modern front to the hotel, there is also a viewpoint to enjoy a drink with great views, the staff are ever so helpful and the breakfast is good. The good points end there, the rooms ( the pet friendly ones ) are small and the mattresses are uncomfortable, you pay for the privilege of parking and you pay if you want to use the sauna or pool or even if you want to have a latte or cappucino with breakfast. Their coffee machine was broken when we stayed so would not be able to comment on this. Whilst it is a nice hotel, and worth a try if you prefer to walk down to the lakeside or cafes in less than 5 minutes , I would look for a different place where creature comforts are given more priority. You cannot beat a good bed and decent sized room after walking up a mountain.
