I’ve been to Edinburgh on numerous occasions, this time to bring my fiancee to see Marti Pellow for her birthday.
The taxi pulled up and right outside and to meet you have you have these huge bins that you normally see out the back of a pub, not a great first image.
No staff to welcome you so all done remotely and by a lock box till you get inside. You head up steep stairs which need fixing(no lift)to the only floor. Room 2 were we were/are, the door is not a close fit so you have to wiggle the key and move the door to align so the lock will open and remember to lock it after you.
Once inside it’s very very very disappointing, no draws(a very small bedside table (on one side only) with 2 ickle draws in it) or shelves for clothes, no wardrobe just a hanging rail were there are 6 mix and match hangers looking very tired, I know there hangers but they could at least match the hangers up and more of them.
Two chairs in the window right next to the bed one with a questionable brown stain on it, definitely require a wash.
On my side of the bed I have a very old dated table that must have been bought at a flea market as it’s rotten, covered in paint on the top of the glass which is covering the top of the table….the bathroom OMG I would just like to say that this is the smallest I’ve ever had the unfortunate misfortune to ever try to get in, I couldn’t swing anything in it, tiles lifting as you walk on them, tiles coming away from the step into the shower, caulk all over the place trying to hold things together and make it water tight….oh and mind the little awkward step walking into the ickle bathroom.
The kettle doesn’t fit under the tap to make a drink so again this isn’t thought about.
Here it comes….the bed hmmmmm it’s very small and compact but clean and comfy.
The room is tired and needs a paint refresh and a new carpet.
It feels to me that this place has been put together on the cheap, very little spent on it and charging a lot for it….disgusting!!!
I was looking at going somewhere else but the places that are habitable are so expensive now and my partner says stay as we can just use it as a base while we’re here.
PLEASE AVOID this place!

Overall I was very impressed and the room was clean bed comfortable (maybe need some new pillows) but apart from someone ringing the door bell at 3.30am (I would suggest removing the bell)
I would actually be more than likely to stay again.
Good close proximity to transport (tram) and port of Leith.
Good communication from the hotel.
Agreed that the Google reviews are a bit harsh.

Tivemos uma ótima experiência aqui. Tudo estava limpinho e a cama era bastante confortável. O acesso ao centro também é bem fácil com ônibus direto passando quase em frente. O lado negativo foi que o aquecimento não era muito bom e não esquentava muito. Pelo menos o edredom era bom o suficiente pra passar a noite. Outro ponto negativo é que o banheiro privativo não ficava dentro do quarto, tendo que sair pra usá-lo. Uma sugestão de melhorias é de que poderia ter mais tomadas também, de preferência perto da cama. Também não há supermercados perto, mas no geral, acabou sendo um bom custo-benefício.

This property was not up to the standard we were used to in the month long trip we had been on in Europe. When we arrived there had been NO communication on how to enter the building only for another guest arriving & letting us in we could have sat on the front steps for our entire 2 night stay. The shower had no water pressure at all & was impossible to rinse the shampoo out of my hair & the towel that I used had a 10cm hole in it & was paper thin & scratchy. Good luck to any body else who stays here but I would NEVER stay here again!!!
