    I arrived around dinner time and check in was simple and easy, after settling into my room I decided to head down to the bar/restaurant for dinner.. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful since I had never been in the area before. Food was great and service with a smile. I will definitely return when im back in Durham.. My room was clean and had everything I needed. The bed was extremely comfortable and had a wonderful sleep. Unfortunately I wasn't able to enjoy breakfast. but it looked good. I would recommend Kings Lodge to everyone, especially those who are dog lovers since this establishment is dog friendly. although you'd never know as there was no evidence of any dog hair in my room or anywhere else in the hotel/restaurant.. 5 stars for sure. look forward to a return visit.

    Not far from town,not walking distance for most. Cosy bar and food looked good ,but we were there for our uni son so ate elsewhere.Breakfast was great,plenty of choice. Parking was my only issue,if I'm paying £185 for a room I want guaranteed parking.If the lodge is full ,plus dinners and drinkers it's not .It might be free as advertised but it also might not be there. We arrived early and then returned late(after 21:30) and we managed to park in the full car park.A pleasant stay and would probably stay again.

    Excellent location for Durham Centre. Leave the car and walk the 5 mins into the centre. Helpful staff and pleasant rooms . Good hearty menu. All round for Durham centre an excellent option
