The truth is that I have stayed at this hotel a third time now but I was disappointed that the standards have slipped. Don’t get me wrong…the location is stunning. Beautiful walks within the grounds of the Goodwood House and the convenience of being able to visit Chichester nearby. But staying in the hotel - I noticed that the carpets in the corridor appear more threadbare especially on the stairs, the tv in the rooms are old (not ‘Smart’ so no access to streaming channels). Even the choice of food in the bar and grill is limited now. The rooms are not very sound proof. I was woken on all my nights by people walking past in the corridor speaking and doors to rooms closing loudly. The final disappointment was the ‘room service’. Having left the sign on our door for our room to be serviced - on our return, we found that the coffee pods had not been replaced, dirty cups and used glasses were still left. Even lesser starred hotels have had better basic service. All in all, I was concerned for the lower standards that I had been used to in my previous visits. So much so that we will consider an alternative venue on our next visit to enhance the standards that we had been accustomed to. ‘Good’ and ‘Wood’ in name - ‘Bad’ and ‘Won’t’ in reality.
