Me and my girlfriend wanted a manchester weekend trip and this was a good value for money and close to the center.

Two early 20s women, regularly staying in budget accomodation, we have two non-negotiables: safe accomodation and clean accomodation.
We had realistic expectations about booking a double room for the night - the stay was ok, but compared to other budget experiences? It was £100 for what was essentially a night in a student accomodation room.
We found the following -
LOCATION: brilliant
✓ central Manchester
✓ easy access to most places of interest in the city
SAFETY: several moments of feeling uneasy
✓ staff and security on premises were pleasant, with number to call staff member if needed
✗ check in was interrupted as staff stopped a passing security member, saying they needed to do more frequent & thorough walk-arounds in the pub since two fights had nearly broken out in the last hour
✗ room door jostled when someone walked past - locking after entering is standard, but we ended up double checking to confirm it was locked more than once.
✗ specific to our room - window offered direct view into the room for anyone using external stairs to access the letting rooms. blinds remained fully closed for our entire stay after looking up & making eye contact with a group at the top of the stairs.
✗ specific to our stay - fellow letters were a group of shouting, presumably tipsy young men who spent most of the later night/early hours hanging half out of their rooms or standing fully in the narrow hallway led us to use the other shared bathroom, further from our room.
CLEANLINESS: clean bed, towels - not much else.
✓ clean, surprisingly comfy bed
✓ towels provided seemed clean, not too old
✓ most immediate surfaces seemed to have been recently dusted, including exceptionally dust-free slatted blinds (not something normally noticed by 20y/os!)
✗ room floor equivalent to old, fabric bus seats
✗ pipes running along room bottom half were covered in thick dust and rust
✗ specific to our stay - shared bathroom seems to be cleaned decently (rust and dust on floor again aside), but due to other letters there was: a small river on the floor, scattered belongings & dirty towels on surfaces, dirty toilet seat & unrinsed sink with half-dry tooth-paste spittle. opted not to shower due to state it was left in by others.
NOISE: loud, but the expected level of pub noise
✓ music promptly cut off at 1am, time of pubs closing, as advised by staff
✓ pub chatter continued past 1am, but not excessive or for a unreasonable period after this - no issues!
✗ sound carries a lot from the hall - we were woken by heavy footsteps several times
✗ specific to our stay - not a reflection on the pub, but other letters were unpleasant and worth considering when booking
FACILITIES:
✓ comfy bed
✓ full length mirror
✗ only one bed-side table for the double bed, very small
✗ no where to sit besides bed or floor
✗
✗ two hangers, no other storage space besides dirty floor and high, slightly dusty shelf - reluctant to use towels once moved from bed as no-one to put them that didn't seem like they'd become dirty
✗ heating on a timer - freezing when going to sleep, with no extra bedding in room; over-heated when waking up in morning
✓✗ tea and coffee provided, kettle and cups were very clean; unused as loose teabags were crumpled and at the bottom of a caddy stuffed with individually packaged coffee, flavoured tea, milk, sugar sachets - digging through to see them didn't make us feel great about hygiene and we unfortunately don't drink other offerings.
✗ TV doesn't work - remote light flashed but did nothing to TV; aerial was not connected properly so nothing would play; hanging wire and plastic sheet swung loose from TV? (decided against requesting staff help due to late hour and loud pub activity, especially safety concerns)
✗ aesthetic only - only a bed, foldout table, plain mirror, radiator, single shelf, TV with loose cables and several bulky pipes to decorate a large room... it did feel a little 'prison cell', which for £100.... a proper wardrobe, drawers or a c
