    We were traveling in early morning hours on Sunday. We were riding our motorcycle, heading to my hometown for the funeral for the mother of our close friends. Unfortunately, our bike broke down and needed to be put in the shop. No need to mention how stressful it can be to breakdown on a trip under normal circumstances. Breaking down in the very early morning hours of a Sunday morning headed to a funeral could’ve been far worse. We limped along from one small Texas town to the next trying to get as close to our destination as possible. It took us nearly 7 hours to get 140miles from home. We found a place to get out of the rain, warm up. Fortunately, the convenience store manager had a family member who repaired motorcycles. He agreed to tow us as well as take us to our motel. We offered our gratitude to the heavens for friendly service and good people we were blessed with on Sunday morning in small town of Texas. We stayed close to the repair shop. Little did we know that we chose a motel that had polar opposite of what we were experiencing so far. The motel had incredibly rude staff. When we arrived for check-in, the desk clerk ranted and made mild accusations that I was there for something far more than respite while the bike was in the shop. Apparently , I had erroneously chosen one guest when booking the room, rather than two. I informed him that the other guest was my husband, and if we needed to add to the cost of the room, we would be willing to pay the extra fee. He asked if the man in the truck was going to be staying as well. My husband said please be careful with how you are addressing my wife. The man in the truck is clearly towing our bike on his trailer. He was kind enough to give us a ride here before taking the bike to the shop. The clerk told me no, he cannot stay because he is not on the information you provided to book the room. I apologized for my mistake and asked “how do you wish to resolve this situation?” I didn’t understand the broken English response, but it seemed like he would allow us to stay without any further trouble , or additional fees. I’m still a bit confused about the interaction with him and rude assumptions that he suggested was going to happen during our stay. The following day 40 minutes before check out, there was an aggressive knock on the door. My husband opened the door and we were told that we needed to leave. My husband said, we were considering staying another day, (we had discovered that there were not many choices, and had no way of transporting ourselves to a different location. He asked what time was checkout. The man told him 11am. My husband calmly said, “That’s in 40 minutes. I’m going to call the repair shop to get an update about our bike and will be up to the office momentarily to let you know what they have to say.” Lo and behold he admitted that he didn’t know about the time change and said that was why he knocked early. After that, the man was somewhat considerate. I doubt this will ever be a place for us in the future, should we ever stay in Brownwood, TX.
