The woman who welcomed us on March 22nd was excellent in how she got us set up in a twin room instead of a double, even having our bags sent up for us while we were away at dinner, and Jackie (spelling?) Was superbly helpful the next morning with a payment issue. In addition, breakfast came out quickly and was delicious. There was nice Mackays jam at each table, good teas in the room, and some tasty sweets as well. I wake up very early and the woman working the night shift was also bright and friendly (this was March 23rd, early morning).
One complaint is that I fear a lot of food and milk is wasted at breakfast. They put milk and and too much butter out at each table. Also, even for a single guest or a couple they brought out multiple slices of toast. I kind of get making it luxurious, but I would reconsider ordering breakfast again because I don't like to see food go to waste. They will give you a box, but it can be impractical while traveling because you have other foods you want to try along the way, so you might end up throwing it out anyway. I would recommend bringing out more butter and toast upon request, instead of giving so much. There was a huge amount of cheese on the cheese plate too.

Photos of the hotel and facilities looked amazing but we got a room tucked at the very back in a modern concrete block overlooking carpark. I was asked if we could get a sea view but was only offered up sell to a suite by another 150GPB.
There was no carpark available so we had to park in an alley and luggage had to carried up several stairs into the reception and then again few flights of stairs before you reach the lifts so for anyone with reduced mobility this would be a concern.
You have to booked a time for breakfast and you order a la cart which takes long time so also sometimes consider. Breakfast was delicious and generous though the plunger coffee was just a muddy brown water.
Overall I do not think it was worth the money we paid and I am disappointed I haven’t chosen another place to stay in Oban.
