The arrival experience was a total blunder… not pleasant at all. We arrived at the place just after 1 pm, and the front door (the huge entrance door at the ground floor) was locked. I found a bell with the name of the guesthouse and rang the bell, nobody opened. We waited for a while, ringing the bell few times - nothing happened. I tried to call the phone number for the place - no answer. After what felt like a really long time - the door opened (some people were exiting the building). So we got into the courtyard of the building. Found our way to the stair case and then we heard someone saying something in Italian from above… long story short it was a housekeeping lady who was cleaning the rooms. She was a little panicked and did not speak much English, no one was at the reception.
I knew that check in is at 2 pm, and we only wanted to leave the luggage and go out for lunch. But the lady didn’t understand us, she couldn’t show us any place to leave the bags, and then asked to put them into a room which just was vacated (not yet cleaned). It was just really weird. The lady tried to call someone, that someone didn’t answer. Then she finally managed to get a receptionist on the phone, who was not on duty on that day. It turned out our room was in fact ready and ready we could keep bags there. I tried to use google translate, but there is almost no cell phone reception inside the building, and I didn't have wifi password yet.
Anyway, after that things were starting to get better. Eventually receptionist showed up. We paid city tax, got the keys and went on our way.
Location of the place is amazing. Walking distance to so many attractions, at the heart of the city center. Room is spacious. Nice bathrobe etc. we got a little bottle of Prosecco on arrival and 1 bottle of water, it was sweet. Also there is a complimentary aperitif drinks available everyday except for Sunday - also very pleasant touch. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated.
