    A busy weekend in Utrecht meant that hotel availability was limited, so we decided to go with this hotel which wouldn’t have been our first choice. We booked this for my husband’s birthday celebration weekend in this lovely city. We booked weeks in advance and had chosen to book a ‘superior room with a view’ and made a request for a parking space too. After many unanswered emails with regards the parking we finally managed to get a response from the hotel which was rather unhelpful…we made other arrangements for parking using ParkBee at Jansdam (fortunately we knew that this would be an option). On arrival the hotel receptionist greeted us rather coldly with ‘your room is not ready’. This was at noon, which was acceptable to us, yet the delivery of the news was rather abrupt. We asked if we could leave our luggage? This was a service that could be offered, but seemed an inconvenience. No further information was given as to how soon we would be able to access our room. At 17.00 hours we returned to the reception to check-in and were dealt with by a different staff member who promptly and efficiently managed the necessaries and handed us our keys. To our astonishment and another guests embarrassment I’m afraid, the room we carried our luggage to and attempted to enter had already been occupied! The lady on reception was more than helpful and apologetic about this awkward situation and quickly issued us another room that was ‘available’. Sadly, this room was less than ideal and rather different from the ‘superior room with a city view’ that my husband and I had been looking forwards to. Again the matter was dealt with quickly and considerately. It was fortunate that I had my original booking details to hand. Finally, after some frustration we settled in to a lovely room with a city view which was perfect for us. Although this worked out in the end, our visit to Utrecht was short and we didn’t feel that spending time dealing with such issues was acceptable. It didn’t spoil our weekend but we would be reluctant to revisit this hotel, which is a shame.

    A very well located hotel right in the middle of Utrecht and within easy reach of everything. the staff went out of their way to get me an iron and ironing board which I must thank them for. they don’t do breakfast as there’s no restaurant on the property but there are very many places all round.

    Turned up at 1450, wouldn’t check me in until 1500, then, after three different room finally allocated the twin superior room I booked. 1hr in total to check in, then after being in room 40mins a random lady walked in! Staff VERY unhelpful.
