Would not stay there every again or recommend it

The staff here are without a doubt the most lovely team of hotel staff I have come across. You can tell they all really enjoy their job and why wouldn’t they? The hotel feels like an escape from the world because it’s so set back from surrounding areas and just feels like you’re back in time for a little break from the madness of everything going on outside. It’s definitely worth paying a small upgrade fee to be in one of the better rooms. Which are so well priced anyway for what you get. Lovely showers and bathrooms. Comfy beds. Great team of staff and lovely surroundings for dog walks. I love coming here for a little break.

The standard rooms here especially where I got placed on my most recent visit in the annex are smaller more stuffy and far more dated in terms of facilities than rooms I have stayed here in previously. If you’re gonna pay *** to stay in one of these stuffy old rooms in the back you may as well pay the extra 38 and upgrade to a feature suite and have a lovely old style High ceiling huge room with lots of nice facilities and a lovely bathroom and shower. For the price difference to upgrade without a doubt it is worth it because the other rooms are far much more below Par and need refurbishing and do not match the pictures on the booking sites. Just upgrade wherever possible and you will have a much more pleasant and relaxing stay. That being said the surroundings and the location of this place is absolutely sublime gorgeous you can take a long walk out the back on a well used pathway that is easy to navigate and have some lovely views of the reservoir and lakes at the back. The setting of this place truly is a hidden little treasure and I will always come back here with the dog as they have pet friendly the staff are absolutely lovely and it is a lovely little relaxing break away from the outside world. It really does feel like you’ve discovered a little hidden gem at this place. I just get the feeling that it is underused and underappreciated and Further time may not be so kind to this place if investments are not made by McDonald’s it would be a shame to see this end up sold to some hideous brand like Britannia to ruin altogether. The manager address is lovely and so we’re all of the ladies that I got to encounter upon the reception they made a lovely photo of my dog and bubbly bright happy and welcoming. If the basic rooms get updated then for the price this place really is a great little retreat

Terrible stay. First room's toilet didn't flash room 205 then we were moved to room 215 and the toilet had been messed with feaces and not cleaned , shocking. Poor Girl at the reception came to clean it. The facilities are too old and some of them like radiators need replacing. Breakfast was Terrible, toaster was not working properly
