Had such a great stay at Hotel zur Post in Bacharach! Maria from the team was super kind and helpful—she gave me a room with a balcony and the view was just gorgeous. The location couldn’t be better: close to the pier for cruises, near the train station, and surrounded by cute cafés and shops. The price was also really affordable. Totally recommend staying here!

The hotel room itself was fine - quite large and nice view. However, we did not see any staff working the entirety of our stay (3 days / 2 nights). Upon arrival at around 17:45 - during the supposed check-in time - we were expected to check-in ourselves using a key lock box. We never received any email, call nor message about any code or instructions on retrieving the key, nor our room or anything about our stay. When calling the hotel, we heard the phone ringing and was never answered. We sent multiple emails and message that went unanswered ( until 2:00 in the middle of the night). While my partner was running around town trying to find another hotel so we weren’t out stranded for the night, a gentleman staying at the hotel advised us to visit the cafe next door to inquire about our key and how to check-in, as he had the same issues as us when he and his family arrived. Our key and instructions for us were waiting at this cafe. How were we supposed to know this without prior information sent to us by the hotel. If not for this gentleman offering his help, we would have been screwed. The hotel staff replying to us at 2:00 in the night is unacceptable and honestly crazy.
The room has no fridge. The shower was cold no matter the setting or time of day. The bed linens did not fit the duvets nor the pillows and had no way to close them so the duvet and pillows kept being exposed (gross).
I absolutely do not recommend staying here, camping would have been better. My partner proposed during our stay and this nearly ruined his whole plan. It’s no wonder this gorgeous little town is fighting for survival when this is one of the central hotels.

Loved the location! Checked in at 8 pm and checked out early the next morning. It was a good place for a night after a long drive. The bed could be firmer and pillows could be bigger. We really struggled with the digital lock to enter the room. Fortunately, the other hotel guests were very helpful and offered their help to work the lock. My advice is not to check in late as there will not be any staff at the frontdesk.

No lift so if you are infirm don’t book this hotel. Location is brilliant Very dated hotel.
