Good location just across the train station, which is also the bus stop to go to the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi. It was overall a good stay for us.

Are you headed for Assisi? Book this hotel now. It's okay. We'll wait but book now. This is the best hotel (for its price and location) in Assisi. Wait, this is the best hotel we stayed at during our stay in Italy. Where do I begin? First, when you arrive at Assisi by train, step outside the train station and look to your left, that is Hotel Moderno. Like two minute walk if you have heavy luggage , that is. The hotel is modest in size but the rooms are spacious. The breakfast is incredible. The family running it is just there ready to be of service. A few houses from the hotel is the McDonald's. I know. You did not go to Assisi just to eat at McDonald's but if you're from anywhere except Italy, it's food you know and it's comfort food. Besides, they have also unique offerings. There also other restaurants close by but you need to take the underpass to cross the otherside of the rail track. There's the beautiful Porzuincola/ Santa Maria degli Angeli church- that you have to visit. There's a special story why... but you just have to visit it. Now, at the magazine kiosk across the station near Hotel Moderno is where you buy the Bus Ticket to reach the hilltop town of Assisi, about 3-4 km away. This is why you are in Assisi, of course. It's mind-blowing. It will change your life. After you have toured the town of Assisi, you can go back to Hotel Moderno. Although you can always choose to stay in Assisi proper, Hotel Moderno is just so convenient-especially if you have senior companions or people with special needs. And when you go home or back to anywhere in Europe, the train station is just across. So book now.
