For reference, I was traveling alone and have a petite frame. This is important as the showering area was quite small for me as I couldn't stretch my arms out properly. If showers are a big deal for you, you may need to reconsider a bigger room. I took the smallest room. Firstly, this is a no-frills hotel, so they provided basic amenities like towels and paper cups. You'll need to bring your own slippers and toothbrush/ toothpaste. The hotel also does not have air-conditioning, but provided a fan with 3 speeds. In early June when the temperature was around 20 degrees (or lower) at night, this was sufficient with the windows opened. I found it better than hotels with a centralised vent/ thermostat unit as that made my nose very dry. This, however, gave me the best sleep that I slept in every day.
For the shower, you get a 2-in-1 wash (head & body). Warm water was quick and water pressure was the best of three hotels I stayed in despite the hose looking "vintage".
The room also provided a small section for you to hang your clothing and I found the space between the bed and the window to be big enough to open my luggage (leaning it against the window). I love the large windows very much as it allowed for a lot of fresh air in. My room was facing the street and a residential unit but I found it to be alright. If you are very sensitive to noise, it can get a little noisy around midnight as there is a wonderful bistro called Chez Paul nearby. Customers drink there, so they can get rowdy. However, by keeping my windows minimally opened, I slept through the night.
Housekeeping was great, I remember once leaving my room around 11 am thinking that housekeeping would have ended, but they still came to clean my room. Not a fan of the green throw pillow and after the second day, they kept it away for me (I appreciate it a lot).
One more thing, this hotel is quite interesting as there was no keycard but an actual key attached to a heavy knob which I found very vintage (I loved it). Overall, I recommend it if you are not a fussy guest and want a cozy environment to stay in. It may not be very suitable during hot summers if the fan is not enough for you. However, I enjoyed my stay very much and will stay here again if I'm in Rennes.
One more last thing, this is close to the city centre and a short walk from Republique metro station (2 stops from Gares Rennes). This was helpful as it costs 1.70 Euros per trip (if using public transport), so being close to the city centre helped to save a bit of money. Gang cafe (Rennes) and Arti Cafe are within walking distance if you want good coffee and a ceramic glazing experience!
