Great for the price to lay your head. Walk to the beaches. Next to Tile Stairs, an early visit is a must, or overcrowded and impossible for PX

For price one-two nights it’s bearable. Out dated rooms, needs lots of upgrades. Good for long walks to beaches. Right next to Tiles stairs, gets over crowded after 10AM

There are some very negative reviews about the hotel, and it is rundown and tired. I just needed 1 night before an early start though, and it was ideal for that - Escadaria Selaron is literally a few seconds walk and the cathedral 5 to 10 mins walk, so I was able to see those when I arrived. There's no breakfast, so I wasn't paying for something I wasn't going to use with my early start. The front desk women don't speak English and I don't speak Portuguese, but they'll use Google translate and were really nice and helpful. The room was fine for what I needed - clean even if it's a long time since it was decorated, and a functional ensuite shower room. For what I paid I was happy enough. Some people want a 3 star hotel for the 1 star price!

a moment of peace in the middle of Joaquim Silva Street, the most annoying and busy street of Lapa. a nice place to sleep and relax anytime you want. safe but not luxury. some rooms still available with very old furniture and in another, only a brush w new painting on the walls could solve the fungus problem. my advice is always ask for new sheets and towels in any hotel. 24h front desk. don't talk make noise and everything is ok. don't have elevator and don't serve meals but you can save a lot of money and have a comfortable bed with private bathroom and air conditioning.
