If you don’t mind staying miles from anywhere then this is the place for you. I didn’t realise when I booked it that it was so far away from where I wanted to be, in fact it’s far from anything! This was my first visit to Ireland and when it says salthill as the location I expected it to be in Salthill. Well it’s not it’s a 45minute drive from there. There’s plenty of stairs in this place so don’t bring a heavy suitcase.
I found the room size to be not too bad but the bathroom smell was unpleasant. They do advertise toiletries provided, I guess they mean the half full bottle of body wash that was on the floor of the bathroom. The bed linen and towels were clean enough and the bed was comfortable. Staff were quite friendly and one night I had dinner in their bistro come bar area and it was very nice.
I couldn’t stay the second night though, even though I had already paid for it. Hightailed it out of there and this time did my research and booked a room in actual Salthill.

The property advertisement dis not match the reality of same .
There was a lack of signage on roads leading to the lodge because the signs only said “Greenfields” which is an area and not the name of the lodge .
No signage for parking or signage within the lodge for different areas
Hotel bar was meant to open until 11.30pm ,but closed at 11.20pm and we felt rushed out with the owner banging doors,gingling keys etc
Management and staff need a course in customer care and need to be more upbeat , and act like they enjoy their job and not be so grim.
Breakfast was very lacking . No juice , no toast . Scrambled Egg was horrible (no fresh eggs were used).
There was no fresh milk in jugs provided at tables for coffee ,but instead were served long life tubs of milk.
Bathroom needs updating as it’s very old fashioned ,but room itself was very clean and nice.
Proper cups should have been used instead of paper cups which wasn’t very eco friendly .
Tbe shower should have had seperate shower gel and shampoo dispenser.
There was no soap for the sink either.
We will not return to this lodge as compared to their social media adverts , it comes across as being a lively, buzzing lodge with fabulous food which we did not certainly experience.
