I feel bad for giving a bad review cause the landlord is a very nice guy, but it was a mixed feeling experience. The place is okay but unfortunately I made the mistake of coming in December. The problem with visiting in winter, besides the cold weather, is that most property owners take this opportunity to renovate their premises. I was woken up regularly with the thundering sound of hammers and other machinery. Consequently, it comes with frequent loss of power, no hot water or sometimes no water all together. All this without any notice. Now because of the weather and the windows being closed, the humidity level becomes so high in the apartment that mold develops on the walls and a dehumidifier in the room was necessary to prevent proliferation. Not the dream vacation or just plain bad timing. Also, and this has nothing to do with the apartment, most of the island is ghost town in winter. Except for Acharavi which is where the apartment is located and of course the capital Kerkyra. Seeing there is palm trees and cactus there, wrongfully makes you believe the weather allows for tourism year round. But that’s not the case. 4 degrees celsius in the morning! So, closed hotels, closed restaurants and bars, plus limited activities and accommodations. Still, Corfu is a beautiful island that I visited from top to bottom and I just imagine how amazing it must be in summer. Nonetheless, a memorable experience!
