I am pleasantly surprised by the breakfast and the restaurant setting, and waking up to birds' singing as the property is next to Cartweight Garden. Staff were polite and helpful. However, this is a boutique hotel with other smaller hotels lining the Garden and has no lift and acoustic is not good. There is a flight of stairs leading to the entrance, so not convenient if you have a big suitcase. Location is close to the British Library and there is an accessible entrance near the library that leads to King's Cross/St Pancras to Heathrow or National Rail. Many lovely city gardens in the neighbourhood and also not far from the British Museum.

The hotel is no frills, a little tired, and the interiors will not be featured in Conde Nast Traveller. BUT... it's clean, well run and central. All the staff I interacted with were friendly, efficient and quick to respond. Breakfast (cooked or continental) was included and was simple (compared to other hotel buffets) but MORE THAN adequate for unfussy solo travellers like myself who don't want to spend a fortune, but still require standards – which this one clearly has. View over the park a plus. Will use again.
